i would have thought you'd have encountered this so far in your other Settlements, Splint... There isnt much armor available and those that are available you get from trading, as it is in the tabletop game of Necromunda. Since I believe that there has been 3 years of this settlement played before you (correct me if im wrong), the Guilders should already be arriving.

Not being able to play with your regular playstyle should be a NUMBER ONE expectation from playing in a succession game. You should at least play one year, attempt not to die and hand the fort on to someone else, hoping that by the time you get to your next turn you will be able to try some more armored combat. I would guess you will still be dissapointed when you use the armor we have added as is works differently to regular DF armor (stronger but with less coverage %), and again we feel it is quite true to the tabletop game.

You can make leather and chitin armor which should protect you somewhat from wild animal attacks, and bone helms to go with them. Ranged combat is of course favoured against scavvies and outlaws. Sounds like tahujdt has done a good job of training the ranged guys. Set up some fortifications instead of armor and you wont be disappointed.

as humans would logically figure out a way to make ok armor
Try the junk armor, its about as good as Copper Breastplate. Underhive Settlement is supposed to be about survival. Setting up the foundaries in the 40k universe to product combat armor would certainly not be a easy task. I was personally for firearms being only available through trade as well with your only manufacture being ammunition.

Splint, you said that this succession game would be "a rude awakening" for me. Why can't it the same for you?

That isn't what I meant. I haven't had a settlment that even bothered with metal working cause I got bored/overrun by migrants (3 years+ with at best a total of 4 snatchers for contact with anyone that isn't a hiver, on top of my food and drink being unable to meet demand.)

I mean someone among us would have completely messed up your building plans by using stairs instead of ramps for everything, probably get you killed for getting uppity, or do something stupid that would cause the grox breeding ground to explode/fall in on itself. This is more modside than your side of that. Ranged combat to me is just too damn slow. And nowhere near as entertaining to watch. But I'm not going to send decently skilled melee fighters out with virtually no protection, nor will I , pardon this, lower myself to relying exclusivly on riflemen. I hardly ever use them and even then it's only in support to knock down enemies the melee troops tie up. Just give the save to Talvieno, DVNO said he wanted a later turn.

This statement leads me to believe your playstyle is not suited for either Succession games, or the Underhive Settlement mod.....

Other people messing up your stuff and creating new challenges to share with the community is EXACTLY what a Succession game is about..

Sending your under equipped troops into deadly battle, only to receive more in the next migrant wave is EXACTLY what the necromunda tabletop game is about...

Whos turn is it next for the fort? DVNO.... :D

tahudt: Put me down for a turn after everyone else has had a year. If it get to me in quiet patch, i'll FRAPS my go and youtube it

After having the light of the Emprah throughly bored into my head, I still abstain from a turn for now. I'm redownloading the mod and going to see a settlment to it's end. I just hope something other than defenseless snatchers shows up instead.

Then and only then, will I finally sac up for a turn.
And I thought DVNO was going after Talvieno. Who the hell is doing what!?

Sorry about the delay, guys! Splint has this turn. The save is here: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=6168. This folder contains the save, audiolog, OOC notes, and tour of the base using the (N)otes command and a follow-along text file. Strike the rockcrete!

Found it!

((Wow, Underhive is really different from vanilla! whoever made this? I <3 you.))

Audiolog: 8th, Slate

Commander Terry Barhe Here. I ,ah, have been asked to be an 'Adviser' to the Underhive today by the mayor. What an honor. No Idea why, never asked to be a bureaucrat. *sigh* If the Emperor wills it, It shall be done.

First order of buisnuss? Made the Dining room fabulous. completely engraved. placed some statues. painted it fuchsia. now that this hive's Feng shui is Chi, I can focus on more pressing matters, like feeding the never ending migrant hoards and making bullets.
