It's really only hard to make money in this game when you try to sell a product that some mega-company is selling.  On the Caponline server, I saw that no one was selling lemonade, so I invested money into researching and making lemonade.  I had it all to myself, until "Derpman Beverages" finished building 2 million m2 of store space, and suddenly lemonade was at 130% market share and very unprofitable.  Moral of the story:  don't just sell one product; diversify.

I'm not playing anymore but just checking in to read messages and to see how the game is progressing.

I'm sitting on $5T on the CapOnline server and 88k influence. That basically translates into 55k m^2 of buildings I can rush instantly. Given that there are 32 plots and 16 store types, I'm thinking of perhaps starting up a retail company that has 2 of each type of store (one selling and one upgrading at all times) and source 100% of the products from the B2B market. I think it could be interesting to literally buy and sell every product in the game.

Of course, that strategy just isn't feasible without some automation so I'd need to find some time to get that all figured out (again).

The main problem I see is that it's kind of a waste to spread that 88k in influence around to multiple stores. I could rush build one of every store type to about 4k m^2 but that's buildable in a mere 3.5 weeks. Alternatively, I could rush build one store to 55k which would take 46 weeks to build normally and would give me an insane marketing bonus as a nice side effect.

Decisions, decisions...

Anyone got any ideas? What would /you/ do if you have $5T and 88k influence to build whatever company/companies you wanted?

I would find what some small company is making then wipe out their market share by going to like 2000% saturation.

50 bucks a breast of q90, we can go down from there until it suits you. Chicken would be way cheaper since I'd have to invest into butchering them myself.

I'll try to get you the Breasts, but it'll take some time to get it set up. I could probably start you at Quality 50 Breasts for now. Just give me a bit of time to set up something.

Haha.

But, I can get you 90 Quality by the end of the week, LordSlowpoke, provided everything goes well. Luckily, I had a livestock company going. Unfortunately, it was going for Beef, so I had to redirect some resources. Plus, I'll have my R&D going full-time after that, so have fun with that, even if you don't give me more money. Why? BECAUSE I CAN. Hopefully, this works for you.

I have 5 million Q77 chicken breasts sitting in my warehouse right now.  I could crank out a lot more.  I usually use almost everything I produce to make chicken breast patties, but I could crank out a lot for you for the right price.  How much will you give me per unit?

I just witnessed a market takeover in less than 24 hours. We kill cows for fun just came out of the blue and became market leader while decreasing my market share by .50 and the former leader's by 2 percent. As soon as I hit 30m networth I'm going to go public and go after the market share. Will anybody from here be willing to buy into my company?

((My god this sounds like insider trading))

God DAMN I love this game!

Ah yes... mega companies that show up and drop your income by half in whatever insanely high quality stuff they sell.

On a technicality, there is always a 65%-ish market share that is never ever met... at least in what I sell, despite mega companies doing their durndest to kill the small companiesmake even more money.  I don't think that 65%-ish share exists and we are just selling to the 35%-ish.

EDIT: My brand name item sells at less then half the Average Price of the mega corps and still only sells a few thousand pieces per month.  Quality is in the 50s, but I only have around 2.5k store space in total.

I've seen demand met go over 100% in the beverage industry.  I think you have to have an insane amount of retail space to do it.  A product, needless to say, becomes not very profitable, though it's still possible to make small profits.

Yeah that is kinda dubious, I've been trying to sell a passenger airliner for like 2 weeks now, and my price is only like 60% of the WASP. I thought it was gonna be a fairly quick flip at first with just 40% demand met.

Err, Just sold my petrochemicals company for 120M, and used pretty much all of it to outsource rice research (now at 61. The leading research is at 70.6); expand my 300m^2 plantation to 2000m^2 and two farmers markets to 500m^2 (think that will provide enough selling power to shift the rice fast enough?). Seems kinda nice as my old research and production chain was a joke.

The first batch of rice will be done in 9 hours. I have 16M in funds and I am not sure if I will be able to pay maintenance :P guess I will find out.

I feel like such a moron, seriously;
I decided that I would try going public on the stock market, but didn't realize the implications if someone were to purchase all the stocks by themselves IE 55% or something like that.

So now I am back at square one with basically no money since whatever they purchased the stocks with apparently went to the company they now own. Welfare is getting me by and I have a little farm and market at ~30 and 15m^2, and I am at least in the black for now. Oh well, I learned.

What i wanted to know was: how do I get dividends from the stock I own? Surely, I should be getting something out of having a 45% claim?
