Managing the stores is a pain in the ass. I'm still selling most of the sporting goods products, I just have it split between 12 different stores and have to sit there and check every single store to check my stock and see how prices are going - instead of simply checking one store.

Think I'll just give up on my current companies and start a new one in the new server when it starts. I'm up to #2 for total net worth in the current server, heh - if I went public on all my big companies and allowed the stock prices to skyrocket (thus making the net worth of them go to x10 or more) I'd probably shoot way above BallC.

Well, now you can copy to all - so if you use the same products in every store then it's fine. But you can't link certain stores together or anything yet, so if you're selling more than 8 items you have some extra work.

Like if I wanted to sell 16 items I'd have my stores split in half, and if for some reason I wanted to change one of those items (demand met over 100% or I ran out of it and wanted to sell a diff item or whatever) I'd have to go through all the stores and change it in every one of them.

And if you're trying to sell a big variety of stuff - say I wanted to sell 32 items - I'd have to check 4 different store interfaces instead of just having it all on the one page.

There is a copy function in stores.

I know, but you still have to copy on each store. To change one item in a store layout that I have on 6 of my stores I have to change it on the one, then go to one of the other 5 stores, select copy, scroll down to the store, click copy, and repeat 4 more times.

Next game I might stick with a small company and specialize in just 8 items so I can keep all 12 of my stores selling the same items.

I guess nobody actually reads any of my posts.

I know there is a paste all function, but it only works if all of your stores are selling the same 8 items. If you want to sell 16 items split between your stores there isn't a way to link 6 stores to this set of items and the other 6 stores to another set of items, other than having two completely different types of stores. So it's still a pain to manage unless you focus on selling the same set of items in all 12 of your stores simultaneously.

I can see the reasoning for dumbing it down if the larger stores are eating up too much server resources, it just kinda sucks to have the game dumbed down. It seems rather silly that a huge store would focus on selling only 8 items. I don't think I've ever seen ANY retail store that only sold 8 items. Imagine walking into a huge sporting goods store and seeing that they have 8 huge isles each with packed with one of surf boards, fishing rods, baseballs, basketballs, sleeping bags, bicycles, swimming suits, hand bags, and nothing else.

They sell a lot of surf boards, but they also sell swimwear, apparel, backpacks, shoes, accessories, electronics, toys, skateboards, sunblock, beach furniture, etc - the list goes on and on. A diverse selection of complementary products is the name of the game in retail, even in specialty stores.

Apparently with the current setup you can actually make a good profit as a small company with a store selling a single product that you produce. Reminds me of Spatula City from UHF.

In Capitalism Online I might make a company that sells nothing but toilet paper and see how profitable it is. All I'd need is a paper factory and logging camp, maybe a well and power plant for the water and electricity. I could call the company Arsewipe Unlimited.

Hehehe, now I'm just being silly. I've kinda abandoned my major cash cow companies, but I just dumped 800 million into a new startup - Arsewipe Unlimited. It will be expanding its stores and creating toilet paper for the next 44 hours, then it will come out with 9600m2 of retail space selling nothing but 2.2 million units of toilet paper. Quality 54 toilet paper. This company is totally going to IPO with a goofy ticker like ARSE as soon as it's able.

The funny thing is, a warehouse selling nothing but toilet paper MIGHT actually make a legitimate business in reality. I know people who go to stores and buy TP in bulk like once a year, and if there was a specialty store for it that sold it cheaper they would probably drive a few extra miles to get to it.

If anyone needs rubber, I just put up a little on the B2B market: 4761 units at $9.99.
I also put up a batch of 41154 Q20 minerals for $.85.

I see, someone is wanting to take my toilet paper market share :(.

Just a note: all my stores have been off line for about 3 days for upgrades, that's why the toilet paper demand satisfaction is so low. When they come online it will be cut throat market. Just so you know :).

I have a few million apple ciders of Q50 for sale, $20 each, it's a good deal, only a few dollars more than Q15 from import.
