How much would a vehicle producing company take to set up?
While Eden Industries is doing well, it's not amazingly fun. So I want to try my hand at Secondary Industry (taking raw materials and turning them into stuff).
I'm thinking of making my own steel but buying the other bits and bobs i need.
SO:
mine -> smelter -> craft factory -> sell

We just need to get Toady to embed a Lisp interpreter into DF.  Learning lambda calculus in order to play the game wouldn't make DF's learning curve much steeper.

not that much, now you have free base research and can rush expansion to 500mq, it only takes a lot of money. about 1G should be enough

IPO done, devoid of buyers.

That's a pretty skimpy dividend considering how much money has been injected into your company by stock sales...

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

can't play this anymore, managing the stores while items that disappear when empty, with prices that have to follow quality by hand and such is a chore.

Aaaaand, someone's hacked the forums.

Really nice. Everyone's Karma got switched to negative, so no one but bot bot can post. He's really mature, too.

I had a rather nice post about some store changes, but I guess that's gone now. Would've been nice to get feedback or something.

I submitted a bug report and told the dev to look at it ASAP. Really, he should be spending his time coding the game and not hand coding a forum software (which unfortunately is "simple" but ends up being vulnerable to crap like this). In any case, I doubt the posts are deleted. Probably just hidden due to everyone having low karma. RJ should be able to fix it.

Ah, that makes sense. Woo!

Dear god, this "shopping spree" is throwing everything out of whack. My entire stocks of strawberries and bananas were gone when I hopped on this morning. And I had at least a million of each. To say nothing about the smoothies! I need to sell them at way, way more than they're worth, just so I don't run out. Even at $100 each they sell faster than I can make them. I guess a 250 m2 cafe selling only smoothies was a crappy idea, but.... I can't tell a store to sell less than its full capacity unless I crank the price up obscenely high. Trying $125 each this time...

Try importing some more products and listing them. Might as well take advantage! :)

My one sports store is making about $18M per product in revenue per tick (with 8 products).

Nice --- Here's what I'm talking about:

All those who said "just pick the highest margin/price product" are misunderstanding the whole Demand Met mechanic.

Did you build a new building? I've had to wait sometimes for the initial build but then it's always worked for me to just expand to 500 after that.

Just expanded my petrochemical plant to 500, pumping out some Q30 gasoline. fukken robotizens, buying all my fairly-priced gasoline and giving me 4mil in cash to play with.
Had to dump all my personal cash to get it there too; for some reason you don't get a reduced price for a bigger expansion anymore.
