Anyone here have experience with lawsuits? I just got this:
Quote
Revanchism Mc. K. III, ESQ.
GSLF - Attorneys-at-Law

Greetings, Mr. Denoron.

As this is an informal exchange, I would first like to express my deep regret for any hurt Mr. Hill, hereafter known as "Client", has done to you, or your most prestigious company. On this note, I would like to remind you that any damages sought by Denoron Retail agaisnt my client will have to be argued in a fair, and honest trial. Which, of course, means that you are not to contact my client at any time until after the verdict has been decided upon by a sanctioned judge.

Now then, to business: It is my understanding that my client took the position of "Store Manager" in Donoran Retail's flagship store, correct? This position entitled my client to stock and control the store under his authority as he saw fit. It is also my understanding that you fired my client cause, correct? My client has informed me that you spoke to him on matter such as: "Stocking the wrong items", "Not stocking correctly". I am struggling, personally, to see what cause you had to terminate the legal contract between Denoron Retail and my client, which will be discussed at a later date.

On the matter of the lawsuit against my client: It is my understanding that you knowingly hired my client, without coercion or blackmail, and that he provided all required information truthfully to you. I would like to ask you, then: Why would you hire my client in good faith, and then fire him, without reason? Even further, why would you let him work, in good faith, for the betterment of Denoron Retail before firing him, without pay?

I have to say, Mr. Denoron, that the case is not looking very strong for Denoron Retail. Heretofore, I, on behalf of my client, formally request that the case against my client be dropped. In return, we offer to drop the lawsuit of unlawful termination in return for $5,000,000 USD, payable in $100,000 USD increments. I would advise that you take the offer, Mr. Denoron.

Sincerely,
Revanchism Mc. K. III, ESQ.
Obviously, I'm not taking the deal. But I could use a lawyer.

Just settle it. Real world laws usually say that if you fire someone before their contract is over, without warning, you owe them about as much as you would owe them if they continued working. E.g. if they had 5 days left on their contract, you owe them 5 days of wages. In the case of an indefinite job length, you have to give like 2 months notice in advance, which would probably be translated to 2 weeks. If you're just paying him like 100k a day, he's got no argument why he should be demanding 5M.

If you have documents saying that you warned him explicitly beforehand and tried to help him improve, then he doesn't have a case.

I think it just all rests on his ability to prove the guy wasn't but to his standards. If he was fired for no reason that can be justifiably argued, then the guy should be paid something less than 5m, and if you can put out a convincing argument that he wasn't up to the task, he gets no $.

If you're going to fire someone after they performed work for you, you still owe them money.  Just like in the real world surprisingly enough.
I offered to pay him, he said fuck off.

Hot stock tip:

JOI Plantation and JOI Plantation II have both been idle since jackosbournelookalike hasn't been logging in.

I saw tonight the following in my player news:

Apr 25, 2012 7:45 PM   Dear Investor, JOI Plantation II has recently accepted Rip into the position of GM.
Apr 25, 2012 7:45 PM   Dear Investor, JOI Plantation I has recently accepted Rip into the position of GM.

So it looks like they're both going to be restarted and should be a going concern again.

Stock is ROCK BOTTOM cheap right now but really any earnings will make it shoot up.

Not legally (IRL). You can fire an incompetent guy, but you still have to pay their remaining wages (or a little less). Unless the termination was mutual.

Only exception is if you have warned him on being competent and attempted to improve his skills in some way, via training or teaching or something. Or if they violate safety regulations or break something explicitly mentioned in the contract like selling away trade secrets.

He shouldn't ask for more than what he'd get if he kept the job, though.

Hopefully this pans out, I liquidated a bunch for my buy in. I'll sit on it tonight, but if activity doesn't pick up by tomorrow I'm going to advertise the turn of events and stock symbol on the eos forum to spike value. The company's cash assets alone warrant buy in...
But as I said, I'll stay quite for now so anyone here at b12 can take advantage of this.

The funny thing is, he would only get payed 700k if he kept the job all the way through. Plus 5% Which by my calculations would be $1750

Cool... You'll see a little spike earlier today from me seeing how cheap it was and seeing that jacko hadn't logged in in about a week. Figured it was time for him to come visit so I bought 50M shares in each. REALLY hope this pans out :P

Well, looks like Walter bought a HUGE chunk of both companies and sent the price skyrocketing. I took profits and walked away with about $300M from my initial investment of $100M. Hope you were able to make some $$$ on it Goron (and anyone else that listened).

I have no idea if it's a good investment, the revenue sheet still displays no sles or profits so i wouldn't do any large investments in the company, also lots of my biggest investments have gone down in the last few ticks, which i'm ok with since i dumped half my stocks in them before they dropped and bought out some others which are starting to inch up in value.
$400 million nw here i come.

I don't understand, what is the motivation for buying finished products such as cars and televisions, etc., stuff that can't be made into anything else?
