So, was the ball mart name a Squidbillies joke, or just part of your username? I thought it was the former, and considered investing heavily just to have part of the name.

Hey guys, I'm looking for an Overseer for Legion Merchandise. 500k pay, 5% bonus, guaranteed raises for good work, responsibilities include restocking and lazybuttoning two stores and ordering research and production while I'm not around. Preferably online access every day.

I'm looking for a Vice President (same job basically) for Toast Industries.   I'll pay 6%.

I've put the app out on the site already- mention Bay12 in your application if you want me to actually read it.  PM me here if you want details.

I'm open to both of your job offerings. I sent an official note to Toast Industries over in EoS; I didn't see the posting from Legion.

I have found my tendency is to purchase about a five-day inventory supply, based on the numbers I get from my spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlR6V1WHPZRkdE9VNmhfcE1RbUlHMHN5WjJReWN2Smc

(I multiply Quantity/tick for a product by 500 to get a rough, easy-to-calculate 5-day supply.)

If you want me for the job, and would prefer I keep a different level of retail inventory available, please let me know.

AWESOME! Thanks for the spreadsheet. I stole the formulas for the equations as I was too lazy/dumb to try to figure them out from the admin post. Seeing increased profits already from my retail stores. :D If you want a job as a Greeter at Ball Mart, just apply. Free $75k a day.

I'll likely soon attempt to factor in one more bit on my Store price point spreadsheets that'll tell you the optimal marketing power to maintain at that store. (Then, when I'm feeling *really* motivated, I'll feed that marketing power back into the quantity/tick and profit/tick equations.) When I get around to making those changes, I'll post to that effect here. Bay12 alone will profit from my google docs! :-)

lol
Fair warning to anyone else using an ipad (or probably any mobile device... or slow typists) while playing with store prices: don't take too long typing in values at the turn of a tick. I just lost a couple of jet skis because I was too slow typing and the game took my value minus a digit or two. Oh well... lesson learned; don't play with prices at :59, :14, :29, or :44  :P

If you don't like the multiplayer aspect it's definitely more fun.

That's what I was thinking myself. It was Economies of Scale that made me want to buy Capitalism 2, and possibly Industry Giant at a later date. I'd like to thank OP and everyone in this thread for renewing my interest in the business sim genre. It was fun playing, but right now I'm not motivated enough to compete with everyone else.

Have fun, and good luck.

No, just part of my username. :) Although I do like me some Squidbillies.

I did a "controlled" IPO when I went public. Did the smallest IPO I could and bought back all the stock so I had 100%. I then coordinated trades with folks who wanted to invest and asked them to let me know if they ever needed to cash out so I could buy it back. If you want to invest, shoot me a PM or get on IRC.

Just started up a new company, Standard retail.
Business model is as the name suggests, i'll be pumping something like a hundred million i made on the stock market into it then loading up various stores with imported goods and lazy 2xing them.
Won't be too profitable actually as i'm not going to micromanage anything other than attempting to not buy too much of anything..
Also i may build a few bakeries since theres nothing to import/buy on b2b :(
edit: the research scaling patch is in, and DAMN i can get my steel and car researches done freaking fast now.
edit 2: Things that i noticed were 20 minutes away an hour ago now seem to take 50 seconds, i think everyone is researching like mad.
A possible flaw in the system?
edit: ok the equasion was changed to make the first few levels faster. I'm good with that, now pumping millions into researches.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

I think it's working exactly as intended.
Cheaper research means more incentive to do it, so they're gonna do it.
And if they have any sense, they'll do a lot of it too.

Sorry, I forgot I hired someone after making that post. Another spot open. Similarly, apply with B12 in your name.

I'm busy running my own business, subsisting on electricity and water on the B2B market.
I can make a hell-ton of water, and my mine is big enough to pump out a significant amount of coal for the electricity.

If anybody needs cheap water, power (or the occasional shipment of strawberries), then Flarepower has you covered.
Within reason, of course, but only people with something to prove need 20m units of water at once.

Does the production cost on the production window include the amount you paid for the raw materials?
