I've decided to give up on retail and sell entirely on b2b.

Odd, I went the other direction.

Each has it's merits.

B2B should sell larger amounts faster, but at a lower margin. Which allows you to reinvest quickly and directly increase the size of your industries. It also lets you focus quality on a small number of products. But you're at the mercy of other players willing or not to buy your stuff, as well as people undercutting you.

Selling in stores provides a steady stream of income, and allows for better margins, but you often need to wait longer to reinvest. Also it favorizes a larger diversity of products, which is harder to get to a proper quality (and/or forces you to buy overpriced goods on the market, lowering your margins and raising your price, which in turn slows sales). Oh and obviously the money that goes into the store isn't going into a factory.

Retail is also micromanagement hell when you can't afford to keep a large inventory in reserve.

Salt is going well. I've jacked up the price on the market from 1.95 at the lowest to $5 and a higher quality batch that's $7. People are still buying it, but I have some salt in reserve that I can discount to a reasonable price for another B12er.

Is it a good idea to sell frozen foods/pig/cow products at b2b or stores? (assuming i dont have high quality or enough money for a high m3 store)

If you have a store that sells it... sell it there first.  Excess can go on B2B.

I love it when people try to monopolize your goods and buy everything at a high price to resell it even higher prices.

Retail is also micromanagement hell when you can't afford to keep a large inventory in reserve.

Yeah, this. After the reroll I gave up on retail and am focusing almost fully on production.

For the present, I'll just play it simple and make gasoline (which only requires energy and petrol) since that seems to be set to make a decent profit. If anyone needs gasoline, has oil, or has advice, just give a shout.

Looks like a lot of the 'easy production' companies have a poor profit margin. I mean, you can get quite a bit on things like hot food, which is still low quality and isn't constantly offered on the market. A lot of the mining companies often offer quite high quality products.

It seems the ticket is to find an item that is consistently not on b2b and the make that.

Did just that. Then someone else popped up and flooded the market with 50 times more volume than I had (because obviously when people see a gaping hole in the market, they rush after it). But I did figure out how to run a monopoly and made plenty to get a head start since he bought out my goods at 2.5 times market price.

Production doesn't seem all that flexible in this game to me.  You generally have to invest in multiple factories to get to the end of the supply chain.

Yea, this game doesnt seem to know how to reward companies working indirectly with each other.

It seem to be the best practice to make entire supply chains yourself and for you to full supply stores yourself.

Though in that regard, I do like that you need to set up multiple slave companies to do that... though I do wish it'd let you transfer research tech.

I'm on the noble quest to produce Apple Pie.

Although, it's a bit hard when you need 4-5 factories to make it :/
