I wish there were stock market index funds in this game.  I'm sorta bored of it now, so the logical thing to do is sell all my assets and buy a stock market index fund in case I decide to return later.

Anyone out there I could contract for high Q vanilla beans? Otherwise I'll just dump all my money into farming beans :P

After having spent a few days buying on the B2B and selling in retail I have been making about 1m revenue per day and all was well. I've just finished producing a batch of paper and I'm simply astounded at how much difference there is in the price to manufacture vs the price to buy. I've been buying paper at $8 a pop. The batch I just produced is telling me it came in at $0.98 per unit.

I made almost a million on the first day, but via manufacturing. Yeah, it's really over priced, getting about 5 times higher than you put in is normal early on, but later on the people buying catch on and start their own production line. After that, it's just a quality and mass manufacturing race... the best ones to invest in the long term are things where quality matters for the buyers, like food or minerals. Or something that's bought in huge quantities, like water.

Sounds interesting. I might just have to try it out when the damn thing decides to let me enter in my player information. I tried several times while following the rules and guidelines each time, and it still will not let me click the continue button.

Oh well, I'll try later.

I get 1.7M from manufacturing and 2.3M from retail. Considering the import, manufacturing is much more effective than retail, but retail is faster. I will use my revenue from retail to expand the cider bussiness.

Also, retail is not much micromanaging really. At first I bought 1k of everything, then replenished everything that was sold out. Takes 5 mins a day. Right now I just buy ridiculous amounts of everything and it's even less of a chore.

Anyone out there I could contract for high Q vanilla beans? Otherwise I'll just dump all my money into farming beans :P

Define 'high Q'.  I'm at like... I don't remember, but my tech level is like 12, and I'm using Q22 water or so right now.  I've been stockpiling to make vanilla extract (which I'm dumping lots of research into at the moment), but that factory has lots of other stuff on its plate.  I could drop by IRC at night and give you a heads-up before I drop 10k vanilla on the market.  If you plan to be a regular buyer, I'll expand my fields some more.  Heck, I might do that anyway~.  It's been selling great on B2B, so when I get home I think I'll expand my plantation from 50m^2 to 100m^2, or whatever value will use up my water for the night.  God, I really need to start producing my own high quality water.  I hate having to watch the water market like a hawk.

My ice cream factories are finally being productive, and all that wheat is going to good use in flour.  I'm about to hit completely home-made Neapolitan ice cream (though it'll be like Q5 for now), and once I get blueberries up to speed, I'll be making cheesecake, pies and muffins.

...Does any other Excel whiz feel like doing me a big favor?  I'm not sure where to source the data, or I might take a stab at it myself.  I want a value-added table.  For each good, I want it to report 1) total cost of its ingredients, 2) intrinsic cost, 3) time, and 4) average market rate.  Bonus points if it bases its values on batches of 10,000 or so.  It should allow overriding values, which is trivial really.

Basically, I want to be able to say "I get water at $0.16/unit.  Oranges require 3 units of water, X units of electricity, and cost $0.YY, and their average value on the market is $Z.  $Z - cost = $V value added per unit, or $T value added per second per square meter.  If I turn them into canned oranges, and buy cans at $C, I'll add value of $D/second, based on (value of canned oranges - production cost - the production cost of oranges)."  Find the supply chain with the greatest average value added per second, which will probably occur mostly at the end of the chain, and you basically win the game.

If anyone wants a copy of my store scraper, I can post a copy.  It's still pretty manual; for each good in your store you have to ctrl-A ctrl-C, alt-tab to scraper, ctrl-V ctrl-C, alt tab to excel, type good name, ctrl-V.  If you're fastish, it'll take you about twenty seconds per good.  But hey it works.

Oh yeah!  And if you ever wondered what effect quality has on your goods' value, look no further than the export screen.  It tells you the base value of your goods, plus a quality modifier.  I'm willing to bet that it uses the same formula when you're selling things in a store, so a Q0 good priced at $10 will sell at the same rate as a Q15 good priced at $13 (just an example, not actual numbers).  What I don't know is the formula for sales rate.  Like...if the market average for action figures is 20Q for $10, and you sell 20Q for $5, how much faster will you sell them?  1.5x? 2x?  4x?

Now, SPQR inc. is another company who is doing this as well. And he's been undercutting me in my markets... so he is my rival.

So lesson to learn here is to always check Import Prices, and dont buy from SPQR.

You fail to see the opportunity: I got a hefty gain in import flippin bacon undercutting spqr: he buys mine out to enforce price fixing but ultimately it's the same result for me. A sale is a sale :)
I am SPQR inc. and I never bought your bacon. I hope.

Turns out I was wrong all along?

I've a news line stating that thing but a search on b2b sale history showed frontline as a buyer.

I'll get a screen and post a bug later when I'm back from this internetless place

I posted some 15,000 Strawberry Banna Smoothies on the market for 20$, they sell for around 30 but I can't sell them fast enough in my store so anyone with a big cafe (beverage store) out there please buy them. You can sell them for 30 bucks and make 10$ profit.

They are low quality (4 compared ot world average of 12) but you can still sell them for around 30 bucks a peice so that mounts to 150,000$ in profit after you sell all of them.

-It has been bought. Really should have charged more but I needed the money then and there to expand my Cafe. Thank you all.

I'd say around 20+ is fairly good. I've been buying tons of the stuff just to keep up with the vanilla market.

I've always assumed it to be how much higher your quality is compared to everyone else's. Like not that it increases twice as much every 20Q (just an example), but it's twice as much if you're 20Q higher than average, or half as much if you're 20Q below average. At least that's how I would've implemented it.

But how much of an impact I don't know.

There is an equation in the game's forums somewhere, but the answer to this question is: UNITS_SOLD = (A bunch of stuff)/price^2

So if you cut the price in half you'll sell 4 times as many units and bring in twice as much money.

Oh, and the earlier example of $10 Q0s selling at the speed of $13 Q15s is only true if the market average quality is 0. If the market quality was 15 you'd need to sell those Q0s at $9.10 to maintain the same speed as the $13 Q15s.

I have about $25 million in cash but I'm not sure what to do with it. I'm thinking about transfering it to my personal account, starting an IPO for my business and selling it and maybe start over with something new.

Import goods and sell it on B2B at inflated prices (bacon import is now unprofitable but there are other multiple interesting products).

"Major logging change
I've decided to move sales out of the revenue table and into its own table, and after many failed experiments we now have an empty sales table. Fortunately the charts will look normal after 12 hours, and other data will be filled after 3 days.

As an apology to anyone who owned stores for their stopped ticks or possible failed store quests, the 1082 players who logged in within the past 7 days will each receive 5000 fame exp, and cash equal to 5% of their networth or $2 million, whichever is higher. "
Woohoo!
Spent half on expanding my store and the other half on products, in 4 hours i'll have $2mill again AND the upgraded store :D
