Fair enough. I'm still struggling to get my mining company off the ground. Just about to finish a batch of petroleum, that'll be going straight onto the B2B to hopefully get me some cash. Then once my mine finishes digging up iron, I'll set it to coal and then get some steel going and sell some of that off at the store, maybe keep some for other projects.
All the while flinging oranges at the market like some deranged primate :P

So i find myself now running another company with 44% of the shares, Stuff inc, I'm not sure what to do with it since it's got bakeries and i don't like the idea of having to micromanage all those different foods.

I keep putting high quality (45+) steel on the market as Microsoft (still working on trying to fix that company), but it seems to go fast. Raised my price to 430 - every bit counts when you're paying 100 mil in interest charges :D

Expanding some of my smelters a bit more too.

I'll give this a try.

We need to start networking; working together in connected industries so we can profit from each other.

Check out the IRC, I've been supplying Bay12 folks with sporting goods for a significantly lower price than my market price.

Welp, my experiment into Watersports is a failure.

The markets were undersaturated, but sales are painfully slow.

The world wide market is only selling 33 units for like, sailing boots.

I'll give this a try.

We need to start networking; working together in connected industries so we can profit from each other.

Me and Aklyon are or were doing something like this. Basically, I f'd up with my start up and I now have a 300m^2 power plant. The idea is that he feeds me natural gas and I can produce tens of millions of electricity in a matter of hours - a good method of flooding the market with 9c electricity for massive volume of sales to generate profit. But it hasn't really worked out so well because I'm almost constantly on the verge of asploding.

Currently I'm making about 7 million electricity from natural gas that I think I bought from him.

*sigh*

I assume no one who plays the game is an economics major.

People seem to think that dropping prices to screw competition or raising prices to get maximum profit is a one-way street, hence why every damn videogame economy since *ever* is utterly screwed.

People don't realize that just because you CAN, doesn't mean it won't ruin the market and undercut future profitability for ages to come. <_<

But then again, if everyone on the game were a genius economist, the game would be boring.

Ehndras, 9 cents has been the average electricity price for awhile. Theres little to no room to undercut on electricity, any lower than 8 cents is going to start causing more loss than profit. And making the price higher won't get it bought, since there is metric tons of it.

Edit: Also, Electricity is the only pure Q0 sector, you can't make 'better' electricity. Just craptons of it.

Well...as I said, I'm nigh-constantly on the verge of bankrupting. Also, dropping prices is /bad/ because, with electricity, the market is already flooded to a ridiculous point - there's no real reason to be selling in quantities of less than millions and the profit margin is, as of this post, one cent.

Kind of hard to make anything approaching reasonable profit.

As Aklyon said above as I was writing this post, the price of electricity was 9c for the past, oh, two or three days I've been playing.

Then it went down to 7c, which is the price/unit of electricity before taking size modifiers into account. I got a rich friend to buy out the guy who had it up for 7c, so the profit margin has increased again.
