Thats the ONLY difference. Everything else is normal. When you dupe files the whole game takes LSD and churns out Roc civilizations with dwarf mounts and the like.

Still looks like a RAW modification to me...

It's possible that evil mist is considered stone for classification purposes and some odd glitch resulted in a layer of it even though it should never naturally exist. I've had similar weirdness happen with mods.

By any chance did you add a new inorganic material after worldgen?

When you dupe files the whole game takes LSD and churns out Roc civilizations with dwarf mounts and the like.
Wrong - that's only what happens when you duplicate creature raws. Duplicating inorganic raws can very easily lead to what you're observing.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

All i've done is add in the pokemon mod, but to my knowledge, that only has creature and body files.

Also the error log reports no duplicate files, anywhere.

Then it's possible you've encountered a rare bug where it accidentally used a regional dust cloud as a stone layer, although I find this unlikely as it shouldn't leave stones then, but should drop "dust" - scratch that, dust is a solid state of matter.  If it were a mist, then it wouldn't drop stones, but dust, so...

On the other hand, are you absolutely certain the pokemon mod makes no changes that could ever possibly effect this?

Also are you in an evil biome?  If so, does it have a regional evil cloud?

If you encounter something new, do some !!SCIENCE!!
What I mean is.. before you try to eradicate some possible problem, test it, try it out.
Maybe it has it's uses.

I mean, what's the worst thing that could happen? Aside from glitching and/or crashes of course.

I once had a stone layer that was a bit unusual. Every single rock was all the rocks, in a epilepsy-enducing/psychadelic fashion.  Then again, I did embark as bogeymen and all the trees were on fire.

Congratulations. You may have a fossil layer of the worst possible thing in the world.

I'm not sure how you did it but that's one of the procedurally generated evil weather materials, probably a solidifed form of one of the evil clouds. It normally appears as a moving malevolent fogbank that causes a random syndrome. If you're lucky, that syndrome will turn victims into unstoppable and unkillable eerie dust husks.

It's probably safe to handle in solid form, but if you somehow turn it into a gas or a powder...

So, build a floor out of it, then collapse it, and see if the resulting dust causes HORROR to happen~!
