Fun times at Necro High

So I made my first for near a necro tower (well on purpose anyways) and I have managed to capture 3 necromancers.  I was curious if people had any suggestions on what fun things I can do with them.  Also would a 100 goblin zombie strong force be able to crash the clown car?  or would the clowns merely melt through them.

Wait, so you're trying to get a force stronger than HFS to defeat them.  What will you do if you succeed? You've then created an even stronger enemy!

And as this is Dwarf Fortress, something is bound to go terribly wrong and allow both armies into your fortress and annihilate you.

I guess with a zombie horde your biggest worry will be fire-breathers, right? How about you make sure they're doused with water during the fight. Dwarfen Sprinkler System? I was thinking 2/7 water in the corridors or mist generators in the likely zone of battle.

Will the zombies even fight the HFS?

We know that they fight invaders and megabeasts, so I'd assume so. I wonder if clowns are considered "alive"...

Well the current plan is to pit the 3 necros a few z lvls above the magma with a bridge giving them access to a stairway down to the HFS.  I'll feed them goblin corpses from sieges (with there weapons!).  If my set up works correctly I should only lose one poor lucky miner to opening the circus tent.  Once all is said and done, i'll probably make a cage trap corridor (if the zombies win), or if the clowns keep the circus going, I'll probably keep em walled off til I can find something to do with em.

Also note that clowns cannot be zombified.

Zombies find syndromes and fire lol worthy and can inflict impressive blunt damage. That may give them an advantage against some clowns but even one made out of a resistant material is going to mess up the entire army.

Yup, they fight.

Wait, so you're trying to get a force stronger than HFS to defeat them.  What will you do if you succeed? You've then created an even stronger enemy!

The survivor'll be drained from the fight, easy pickings.
Put the necro's in a glass tower with line of sight to your sacrificial pit.

Zombies.

Seeing as how I saw a two squad goblin ambush demolish a fifty zombie siege without casualties, I would say zombies vs. HFS would be an unmitigated disaster for the zombies.

Zombie sieges are relatively wimpy because they come so spread out. One goblin versus two zombies twenty times favors the goblin more than if he had to face forty zombies simultaneously.

If I were to try this, I'd arrange a battlefield roughly 10x10 in size with the necromancers in the walls behind windows behind fortifications. The clowns would have to come up from below through pet-impassable but unlocked hatches, and I'd use big animal zombies instead of goblins. Start an elephant breeding program, for instance, but let them die of starvation and throw the complete corpses down for the necros to raise. When the invasion comes, the clowns would be within melee distance of the zombies when they first spot them, so all of the fighting would be within that single area, and whenever a zombie that isn't on fire dies the necromancers should promptly reraise them, making it a war of attrition that the clowns cannot possibly win. Oh, and arrange a mister system, too, to make sure as few zombies as possible die on fire; flaming zombies become flaming corpses, and flaming corpses vanish.

I believe that HFS could defeat nearly any number of resurrected corpses.  Corpses are weak.

The trick to using corpses to fight HFS is to get a reanimator someplace.  Even if HFS can defeat any number of corpses, they cannot defeat infinite corpses.

Unfortunately, I also believe that it would probably take about 50 years or so to kill HFS in this way.

Husks/thralls/zombies (critters that never technically died) are a different story.

He he he.  Yeah, it almost looks done...  alas...  those who are in your teens, hold on until your twenties...  those in your twenties, your thirties...  others, cling to life as you are able...<P>It should be pretty fun though.
