Dutchling, we've discussed this RSS thing.
Personally, I type in the first letter of each website that I frequent (more than one letter, for a few) to check them. Most daily (no set times), some on a schedule, some more than once a day.
The Firefox bar is for the things I really don't want to forget, or visit with extreme frequency.

I think the most extreme necro I've seen on this forum was 2 years, on some thread in the Upper Forum.
There was a time or two someone or another was just posting in whatever the oldest threads were. Didn't last very long before Toady nuked it, but... yeah. Not sure if it'd really count since it was troll posting, but. Eh.

Honestly, though, it's pretty appropriate there. I'd rather someone bring back a conversation to add to than keep remaking something to tell game devs.

Wasn't that when Deon answered a question in an Adventure mode thread 2 years after it was asked?

I personally prefer old dead threads being revived over new ones being made.  No matter the 'uselessness' of the post in question.

Yeah, I thought that too. But I got slammed on by someone someplace so just stopped... But it does seem cleaner.

I prefer new threads most of the time - because for most threads there's a cost involved in participation, where you are expected to read most of the thread. I don't want to start reading, only to find that all of these posts are 4 years old and there's no conversation to be had here once I get "caught up".

However, I don't mind transient threads being necroed. Any thread where you only really need to follow the last page or two is fine either way. But necroing instead of starting a new thread means there's probably no OP to keep an updated and useful first post (esp. one that states whether it's a topic or transient thread)
