((Railroading is fine by me, to a certain extent. As to what I was doing, I/Mier was experimenting to determine if being magically exhausted/at 0 power would prevent all magic use, or if actions that would normally not be significant to consume power would still be possible. In short, Mier is curious about the potential applications and limitations of his power, and is starting with simple tests to see what he can do with it, e.g. bending light around himself, making solid light, etc. In short, light could potentially have some very interesting uses, depending on how this system of magic functions.))

Mier raises an eyebrow, then shrugs and recites the message, tucking the note into a pocket inside his tunic and departs for the southwest village.

Mier travels for a time through the forest before halting. He forms another orb of light above his open palm, focusing intently on it. He imagines it growing brighter, denser, to the point where he can physically touch it. After observing the results, he continues toward the southwest village.

Jacques considered the namu. He had gotten his powers when he had touched it, oui? So maybe if he touched the namu again, something else would happen. At least, that was the logic.

Jacques touches the namu.

So... I'm supposed to be studying for the SATII, but I felt at least one post should be done, so here it is.

DISCLAIMER : 'Random numbers' in this post may not be truely random, due to using randInt(1,6) instead of Random.org

Inser

You leave, and think of heading towards the pass.
However, you realize you don't have any supplies. You check your shelf at home- you have two f20s and ten copper coins with a square hole in them.
What should you buy for the week-long (or more) trip?

Mier
You imagine the ballof light glowing harder, denser. You gently touch it; it is solid. When you press on it harder, you feel power being drawn from yourself. Perhaps if you hit it with a hammer, a noticable amount of power will be used? You extinguish the light and head to the destination.

You seek out 'le bartender'. He has a thin, curly mustache and a strange puffy hat on, and is critically examining his glassware. You prod him, and tell him the message. He looks thoughtful for a moment, before his eyes widen. He hurridly shoves a pair of f20s into your hand and shooes you out. He draws a bar over the door, signalling he is absent, and quickly heads off towards the forest.

Salden

You head back home and sleep, as it is night.

6 power restored.

You wake up refreshed and re-energized. You think someone's outside your windowsill, but you are not sure ...

Aile

You wake up when the sun is a quarter up the sky.

You sniff at the jar you set out last night; it smells strong and good. It should be usable now. You hear a rustle outside your door. Breakfast is eaten simply, with potatos and leeks.

Thoki

"Hmm, you are in good luck. This bounty just came in yesterday from the temple. There are these wooden poles, brightly painted and decorated, in the forest around the villages. Nine, to be exact. If you find them and report them, you can get a silver coin each! That's worth a thousand copper coins. "

The bartender gives you an apple, and you pay a copper coin.

"Other than that, well, the nine villages are too small. Everyone knows everybody, so no crimes of such."

NRDL

You focus on lightning, the sky, the clouds ...
5 power used
The sky rapidly darkens. A single lightning bolt falls from the sky and strikes the namu. You are shocked, but not in a painful matter. In fact, you feel power flowing back into you.

Power set to 6/6

Kaelan

You sell the boar to the butcher. He is a thick-set, midage man with rippling muscles, but always covers his face with a mask. He claps you on the back and nods in appreciation. He rummages in his till for a moment, before handing you a mixture of coin and paper. You count it up to be worth about 125.

Before leaving, you watch the man prepare the boar. He slits the neck vein after hanging the boar upside-down. Blood drains into a bucket. Meanwhile, the butcher works on a deer, cutting down its belly leather, and making cuts in a certain way, so that the guts don't spoil the meat, the leather is intact as possible, and so that the meat also is kept mostly intact.

Jacques

You lay a hand on the namu. It is slightly cooler than a tree would have, even though it is in the sun. You feel some power rising in you...

Power set to 1/6

I don't think I've seen Azthor around, have I? O_o I also notice the lack of Fire, whoever s/he is.

Thoki frowned at the bounty. It wasn't at all what he was hoping for. Maybe the world was just too peaceful to need someone to help defend it. The thought of money was still welcome, but it wasn't his highest priority. "This is good news. That's a lot of coin for just finding a large wooden pole. I think I'll head to the temple then." He stood up, almost forgetting the apple that he asked for. "Oh right." He stared at the apple for a moment, picturing 2 seperate cuts that would quarter the apple.

Nonchalantly slice the apple in quarters using its own shadow, and pick up the apple pieces to eat along the way.

That should be enough for now. Perhaps I should return to that-Mier pauses, unsure of what to call the strange object from the clearing, until a word drifts into his mind-namu and see if I can gain some additional insight there. But first...

Mier heads to the marketplace and purchases a piece of fruit, an apple or a pear, perhaps, as well as a small amount of salted meat. He then leaves the village in the direction of the namu and the clearing he awoke in yesterday, eating the fruit on the way.

Thoki

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

With a flick of your mind, you entice a shadow to neatly quarter the apple. It is more crisply cut than if the most sharpest blade in the world was applied to it. 1 power used. The bartender looks at you weirdly, before turning and going back to work. You go to the temple.

Which is in the north village.

It takes about thirty minutes through the forest to get there. On the way, you glimpse a number of men headed the same way as you. In fact, they also seem to be going to the temple. They are all clothed in black, form-fitting clothes, and have various weapons that seem to have been used much slung over their back or hanging on their belt. There also is a woman.

The temple itself is a shiny, new construct (despite being built many decades ago), sitting on a open plaza tiled with granite. There are two gold-rimmed fountains burbling water. The temple has a dark entrance, with no door.

Inser

Horses aren't commonly used around here, you recall. The outsiders that built the temple, however, did, and they congregate around the north village, where the temple still stands.

Salden

There is a black raven scratching at the walls. It looks at you, beady eyes gleaming in the morning sun.

Mier

You pay a copper piece for a juicy-looking red apple, and pay one f20 for three meal's worth of salted meat. You are given 15 copper coins as change. You head back towards the namu, the pale blue one.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

About half-way there, you notice that you are being followed.

Kaelan

You head towards the inn, and request a drink. You receive a grape wine.

While sipping the drink, a number of rowdy men come in and start talking equally loudly. They are discussing where that painted pole might be; they were supposed to be red, blue, or green; and are in clearings.

The plot thickens.

"Hello," Salden said to the raven, cheerfully but not loudly. Animals tended to startle when you talked to them too loudly.

He stared at the raven a moment longer, corners of his mouth creeping up. "You want some food?"
