Thoki pointed back at the guard that pointed him to Jacques unintentionally. He continued unknowing that he was actually talking to the wrong person. "I heard from the guards over there that you might know something about the bounty on the totems. I was wondering what kind of a threat the totems were. There was a similar sounding event where I'm from, and I was just hoping they weren't related. Is there anything you can tell me about them?"

Thoki was rather surprised by the sudden offer of a free meal. Did he somehow hear about their supposed problems? After about half an hour, you return and discreetly dig out the gems and pocket them. Two of them are large quartzes in their natural elongated pillar shape, three are medium sized quartzes cut into a more traditional gem shape, and there is a single black-tinged gem.


Salden follows Thoki, Aile and Jacques.

Jacques enters one of the inns he has never been to before, a large bustling one, and orders a simple meal or three. Aile heads off and sells the Good Mushrooms for forty copper pieces (they are good), and asks the cook to plop a few in their meal.

After a moment of awkward silence, four piping hot bowls of mushroom-and-chicken-broth and four rolls of pretty fine bread are delivered to their tables.

In this case, it's the slag that we're interested in, not the purified whatever, sometimes there's trace amounts of iron there, but it's of no importance. You use 1 power and watch as the leaf slowly becomes glossier. You touch it and see that it is hard. You try to bend it and see that it is still supple. You see that it is still light. You also see that the edges are rather sharp now: you made a small wound in your finger without you knowing it. A single drop of deep red blood seeps out.
