Jacques considered going to the chapel and copying the statue there, but it would never work. To copy the statue was to make his own work an imitation of an imitation. He could never capture a true likeness that way. No, instead he would find a living person to model the face off of.

He had always had little difficulty finding models at the tavern...

Jacques goes to the tavern to find a model.

Thoki turned to look at Aile.

"Oh sorry, I just wanted to distance myself from the village. I figured it would be better if we headed this way rather than be spotted by those red scale people. From what I can tell from the bounty someone put on the namu, the red scale people are that are helping to look for them. I mean if they grant powers, and someone posts a bounty, that someone might know about what they do. It's not worth being spotted."

Go to the namu.

Kaelan

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Nothing happens. At least you didn't use any power...

What were you going to do with the purple light?

Inser

You head back to your namu.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It seems that some men have been here : there are boot imprints all around the clearing, indicating heavily loaded men. The namu itself is unharmed and unmoved, but you see a couple bent daggers at the base of it.

Mier

You go to the second floor room that is yours and close the shutters. You call upon your power to light the room up.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You use no power, but nothing happens either. You go to sleep.

---

The next day is overcast still, and somewhere between warm and cool. Your power has been set to 7/7.

Trendam

You take some metal and attempt to shape it into a dagger. . .

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

With a spectacular spray of sparks and a huge drain of power (3 power used), the iron bar melts in your hands and drops heavily to the floor. You notice that it is in roughly the shape of a cruciform, but not exactly a dagger. Perhaps your power is not meant for that?

You notice that the metal is very pure, a silvery sheen never seen before in your life that almost matches silver.

Aile & Thoki

Nnaranha purrs quietly in Aile's arms.

Thoki leads the way to his namu. Going along a trail in the forest for a while, until breaking off and crashing through moderately populated undergrowth, the two reach a clearing in which a pale red-painted totem stands untouched and perfect. There is little sign of anyone being there except for maybe some game. A couple of birds dart off as soon as Thoki steps into the bright patch of sun.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Jacques

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You go to the tavern and easily find an acceptable model. You offer to pay her 25 copper coins, but she declines until you raise the price to 45.
At last, you set your chisel to the stone! With utmost concentration and handiwork, along with eight hours of daytime, the rough contours of the statue are done. You now do not need the model; you just need to sand the statue down. As you set your carving tools down, a running train of children unexpectedly bump into your arm, but with experience gained from years of sculpting allow you to twist the chisel just so and end up with a small gash in the neck area of the statue. At least it was not the perfectly done face. In fact, now that you look at it, it almost seems like it is a natural crease in the skin of the goddess.

> Finish statue?
> Chase after children, scold them
> Thank model?

Wonderful, they know where it is. Inser quietly scolded himself for leaving his namu unattended as he grabbed the daggers off of the ground and pocketed them safely in his pouch.
speech: "Hopefully this doesn't kill me..."

Will the namu away

Kaelan searches around the clearing for any sign of a namu.

((I was going to use it to make any namu in the area glow so I could find it.))

Show the lump of metal to the blacksmith and ask him to forge a dagger out of it, claiming to have found it out in the wild. If he agrees, go out and cut down trees while he works on the weapon.

Thoki stretched and focused on the namu in front of him. He looked at the shadows around the namu and the brush that he just walked through.

"This isn't a twig or an orange, so I'm going to try something a bit bigger and direct. I'd suggest you two take a few steps back to be safe. I'm not sure how well this will work."

He walked forward into the clearing with the namu and imagined all the surrounding shadows shifting away from the trees and underbrush and lining his entire body as his arm grew and shifted into the shape of a massive blade. He breathed heavily as he strained his concentration.

"Rrrrrrraaaaaagh!"

His voice quietly let out a strained grunt as he lifted the massive shadowy blade and held it ready above his shoulder. He sprung forward at the namu's wing. It was obvious that he intended to cleave off the wing tip of the namu.

Try to cleave the wing tip off the namu without passing out beforehand.

Spoiler: Thoki Corviaten (click to show/hide)

((I'll leave it up to you as to how successful his plan was since he probably would pass out by lining himself with shadows, let alone making a blade.))

Mier leaves the inn, nodding politely to any of the staff he encounters on the way out. He leaves the town, heading into the forest. Once he is out of sight of the town and at least an hour's walk away, he stops, assuming he hasn't encountered anything out of the ordinary.

He chuckles to himself, "Three days, eh?"

A little wait couldn't hurt. Besides, this'll give me a chance to experiment a bit more.

Mier attempts to form a sphere of light twice the size of his fist. If successful, he tries to make it solid, capable of touching physical objects rather than passing through them. If he is again successful, he holds his hand palm-out towards a tree, orb of light hovering in front, and wills it to accelerate toward the tree.

Spoiler: Aile Urien (click to show/hide)

Aile watched as the man did his work, then a sudden notion hit her.

"I wonder, if we can channel power?"

Aid Thoki, by doing such. If possible, aiming at the blade.  :P

Inser

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You exert your power (1 used) and will it to disappear, but nothing happens, even visually. As you are about to try again, you hear the sound of men walking through forest undergrowth ...

Kaelan

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You head around the clearing a number of times, but you see nothing at all. However, a crunching sound continuously is heard from under your boot. You look at it and see that some crystal dust is embedded in it. Maybe someone pulverized the namu that was here.

Trendam

The blacksmith shakes his head.

"Pure iron isn't the best for making swords. It not only rusts too well, it is also very soft ... It will be better sold as a trinket to some rich man. Since the outsider caravan should come soon, why don't you take this to a trader? If you are lucky, you might get a few silver coins out of it... and if the heavens smile upon you, the traders might just have a tome of skill. Now, while I usually frown upon instantly gaining skill, you, boy, are quite too skill-less to even call an 'apprentice'. Go today, wrapped in a soft cloth so it doesn't scratch, and buy or commission a nice glass box and cushions to display it better."

Thoki & Salden

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The actual creation of a shadow shape, you remember, does not cost any power. It is when it interacts with material and does stuff shadows normally can never do when it taxes your system.

The stark void of your power is felt clearly as the black strikes the wood. It passes straight through while you feel some kind of hunger that is not related to food. Suddenly, the blade bursts into flame. You then feel the touch of a hand on your back before you are filled slightly with power. (.5 power increased)

A rustle is heard from the right.

Aile

You try to 'channel' power. First, you try it at the blade.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

1 power is used, and the blade bursts into fire. Noooot exactly what you expected.

You then attempt to give it to Thoki himself, by touching him.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

1 power drains from you. Thoki doesn't burst into flame, so that's assuring. Not so sure about whether it actually was sent to Thoki, you are about to ask when a rustle is heard from the right.

Mier

Sphere of light twice the size of your fist is effortlessly created.
You make it solid...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

...but fail to collect the power needed. You try again:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It seems solid. It isn't different visually, but touching it with a finger confirms that fact. Strangely, no power is used.

Holding your palm outwards to a tree, you accelerate it to the tree!

With a wooden crunch and a fizzling sound of fire meeting wood, 1 power is used; the tree has a wound that looks like someone smashed a giant fist into it, which happened to be on fire. The bark is blackened. It lightly smokes.

Try and purify the metal further, just in case, then proceed to do as the blacksmith suggested; should all go well, visit the caravan and browse their goods.

"What was that?"

Thoki looked to the brushes before continuing to cut into the namu.

((He'll continue cutting, but he just wants to know who or what it was that saw him.
