"Really? That's interesting, my raven suggested I come up here too," Salden said with a massive grin. "Did your cat say why?"

"Oh, and I'm Salden."

Spoiler: Aile Urien (click to show/hide)

Aile failed to hide her amused look at the words spoken. This was...pretty amazing to find out! And Salden was from another village, with a Raven!

"Well, Nnaranha did say something about his knowledge about what might happen, and compared himself to his Raven friends. He also said we, and I'm guessing you're one too, are avatars of the elements governing our world. If but one of us dies, the end of the world is assured.

And...something strange about getting out of the area, yes, the woods, or I would be knocked down. Hm."

She then proceeded to show her namu piece to Salden, then continued with the conversation.

"So I was tasked to bring part of my...um, this. Oh, and he told me to go up here as there was a road somewhere that led out of the basin. I never knew there was a way out."

"I've also scrounged up some nice berries to share, if you'd want some."

I don't recognize that armor. An outsider? I might be able to leave without needing to do anything if I use him.
Approach armored man, speech: "Excuse me, sir? May I ask how you got here?"

Mier

"You'd have to go to the base, which is very far from here. I think you have to take the east road out of the basin and follow it for a week or so. I suggest you find someone to go with, because bandits like to prey on loners. "

You leave, glancing around. There is another person who starts talking to the guard, and also a number of other red-scale-bearing men around the rear of the atrium.

Kaelan

You slit the man's throat with your dagger rather than axing him, to avoid blood. Not that anyone would be suspicious - you are known to be a good hunter in your village.

You retrieve your arrow, wiping it on the man's clothes, and rummage through his items.

There is a pack, a pair of swords, long and short, and a waterskin.

Trendam

You seem to be unable to lift the tree : each time you try, you feel dizziness and intense pain in the head area.

Aile & Salden talk.

Inser

"Why, good man, I came here as part of a convoy, of course!"

Salden's expression changed to one of surprise.

"Eh? He didn't say anything about being an avatar of anything, just that I should leave. And hide my namu, and grab a piece of it because it empowers me.

But, yeah, he said I should get out of the basin by the way through the northern village, and that others like me would be here. And that some of them had animal companions but some didn't.

He also didn't know why anyone was looking for me or the totems, but that I probably didn't want them finding either one.

So... I guess we should find the others? I'm not sure how we're supposed to find people with no animal companions, and we'll need to be careful in case they're just pets."

A convoy. This is my chance. I'll have to hide my namu before I take advantage though... And the raven mentioned something about others. I'll need to find them too.
speech: "Will this convoy be going anywhere soon? Has it already left?"

Jacques considers his actions over the last few minutes. He then has an idea:

"Namu, please come with me? You are in danger."

Mier glances at the person speaking to the guard as he leaves the atrium.

I wonder... If I found out about this and came here for information, maybe someone else who touched a different namu could as well?

Mier leaves the temple, lingering at the entrance, waiting for the person he saw speaking to the guard. As the person leaves, Mier approaches them, speaking quietly, "H-Hello? Uhm, I'm not sure quite how to ask this, but has anything strange happened to you recently?"

Kaelan takes the long sword and anything valuable in the pack, then ditches his axe, not wanting to be weighed down too much. He heads off in search of the other namu, deciding actively hunting the rest of the mercenaries isn't worth his time.

Spoiler: Aile Urien (click to show/hide)

"Then let it be so, Salden. I'm sure our animal pets can recognize their friends, just as my cat recognized...ravens. In general."

Aile and Salden go look for others like them. Meaning by asking their animals to aid in the search for the other 'Avatars' and their aides.

((Mutual action?))

Aile and Salden go look for others like them.

((Mutual action?))
((Sounds good. "Others like them" is a bit vague, though; perhaps "go talk to the guy with the raven" or "ask companions if that raven is a normal bird or someone like them" would be better.)

Thoki stopped making shadow puppets to amuse himself while he waited. As amazing as the shadow puppets were he couldn't wait any longer. He might draw unwanted attention to himself if he kept in the same place for too long. He stood up, and started walking to Salden. 'This might be a good opportunity. At worse he'll think he's seeing things.' As he passed by he stopped his shadow in place for a moment as he continue walking. After a second he released his hold on the shadow.

Pass out hilariously Thoki stops his shadow for a second.

Spoiler: Thoki Corviaten (click to show/hide)

((He never did find out he has a limit, or that he could take his namu with him. I doubt he knows that he's out of power.))

Inser

"The convoy has been dissolved here. We're garrisoning here until further orders come. We're in two camps, one to the direct north of this village, and the other at the east pass."

Jacques

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Despite being completely drained, a spark of residual power exits you. The namu seems to topple into diamond dust, falling into the ground and disappearing. As you watch, it completely disappears save for a single ice-colored core the size of about two of your thumbs side-by-side that is left in the grass.

You feel that when you recover your magic, if you ever do, you will have slightly less for a day.

((-1 to tomorrow's power restoration.))

Mier

<<waits for Inser>>

Kaelan

You extract a stack of f5 notes and a string of copper coins from the pack. You also take the tiny pouch of gems from an inner pocket and head off.

(6 f5 notes & 22 copper coins, along with a small pouch of gems gained)

Where would you go to find another namu? Randomly wander?

Trendam

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You will the tree to go back. With the sudden feeling of 3 power deserting you, you watch in awe as the chopped portion of the tree slowly knits together, fibers connecting, bark reforming, and finally the trunk rising until you can escape. You lay there and see that that the tree has become exactly like it was before you set axe to it.

Aile

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The yet unnamed raven pokes Nnaranha, who blinks before saying,

"Well, Mr. Blackwings over here, who had the decency to peck me like a common crow, would like to bring to your collective notice that that person over there - a vague twitch of her tail indicated Thoki, a man in a green coat and a strange eyeglass over one eye "- seems to be playing with shadows in an ... unusual way."

Thoki got up and started walking over to Salden. Both Aile and Salden noticed that his shadow seemed to hitch for a moment, hesitating to follow the owner, before becoming normal again.

Thoki walks to Salden.

Cut a large branch off the tree, burn the stump's end and try to will the two together.
