"Ahaha. I guess I need to be clear and singleminded with this, don't I?"

Mier tucks the shard of namu into an interior pocket.

I wonder... Just because it is smaller doesn't mean it weighs any less.

He gently attempts to uproot the shrunken namu.

Salden giggled, watching the ball of creation for a while. He wondered idly if he could just create more namu, but decided that even if he could, that'd probably make it different than his namu.

Touch namu with ball of creation.

Spoiler: Aile Urien (click to show/hide)
Aile looked at the cat with an  :-\ expression on her face. She had never seen wood that could deflect a good quality dagger at all in her life and bending it! This was even her first dagger!

"Hm, you said pillars right? So...I guess this cannot be affected by mundane means, cat?"

She chuckled to herself, "You still haven't told me about yourself, my feline friend. Anyway, if what you say is true, then-"

Aile places both hands on the namu and wills part of it to break off. A part that can be carries easily by herself that still holds it's power.

((Dagger is bent because I see it as bent.  :P))

Kaelan

With a refreshing sensation of coolness, some power flows into you.

Power set to 2/6.

You then attempt to shrink the namu. After a second's delay, the namu sluggishly reduces itself to a small size, about a mushroom tall. However, to you dismay the namu does not budge when you try to grip it.

Thoki

The shadow person responded in a flat, not accented, and non-cadenced voice.

"This is not yours. Another has been claimed. It claims but one."

Inser

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You expend 3 power, attempting to shape the world to your will and cause a tree to grow. But nothing happens, and you are drained of your power for naught.

Trendam

It seems that there are no healers in this village - nor any of the others - that accept apprentices. You remember that the knowledge of a healer is passed down from mother to daughter, and sometimes rarely to the son, but never to an outsider in the basin. The outsiders might be different...

Jacques

You return home and lose yourself in sculpture.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ten hours and a missed meal later, you dizzily get up from your work-in-progress, a rough outline of the statue of a goddess you sometimes went to see in the north village's chapel. You can discern the wings, the distinctive posture, and the overall shape, but you did not scribe any details yet.

Why did you get up?

... Ah, yes, a knock on the door.

Mier

The tiny namu resists your efforts at displacing it.

Salden

A small shard of the namu detaches itself and pops into the sphere of creation.
Meanwhile, the place where the shard used to be knits itself back up, taking 1 power away in the process.

Aile

You will part of the namu to break off.

It does. A palm-sized piece of namu, roughly diamond-shaped and colored as vibrantly as the rest of it.

Kaelan uses one of his daggers to dig around the namu, seeing if he can find out why he can't move it.

Thoki stood up. "So what you're saying is that these totems have been claimed? That means that I'm not alone." It was a comforting thought to not be alone, but he wasn't sure what he would do about another mage if he met them. He respects the fact that they're also practitioners of magic, but would they respect him? He had to be ready for anything. "How exactly does one gain more powers and abilities then? Am I just limited to shadows?" Thoki was a little concerned as his newly found dreams of controlling the world as he wished were dashed from him. He soon smiled as he realized how foolish a dream it was. "Nevermind. How do I improve the powers that I do have?"

Listen to the shadow before leaving the forest. The namu is useless to you.

Strange... Still, I shouldn't linger here.

Mier visualizes the same flow of light as he has done twice previously, willing it to flow through the shrunken namu, rendering it effectively invisible. He then gathers small amounts of litter from around the clearing, dead leaves, twigs, and so on, and gently scatters them over the invisible namu, imitating the natural appearance of the forest floor.

He pauses for a moment to gather his thoughts, glancing over the bounty note again.

Whoever posted this bounty probably doesn't have the best of intentions toward one such as me. Still it could be worth the risk, if I can get more information. But if they simply want people to lead them to the namus- wait, namus!? Thi-this means... there could be more like me? Okay, I've got to stay calm. If there are other magic users, they're probably in the same situation I am. Shit. I need information. If I screw up with the person who posted this bounty, I could end up dead. Other magic users might know as little as me, but they might not be hostile. Only, one of them might be a bit less cautious than me and go to the temple to dig for information.

So... I should go to the temple, and wait to see if I can find another like me. Maybe post a notice that wouldn't be significant to anyone but someone like me? Yes, that could work.

...

Gods, I hope I don't have to kill anyone else. If I'm careful, I can get out of this without any more blood on my hands. At least he was probably an outlander, rather than one of our own.

I hope.

Mier sets off for the town which is home to the temple.

"Hah, neat!" Salden exclaimed, pocketing the namu shard. "So, now I just need to hide it..."

Attempt to get the namu to sink deep into the ground.

Jacques quickly rubs the stone dust off of his face onto his apron. The statue is coming along quite well, much better than he'd expected given his terrible luck so far today. It will be beautiful, beautiful! And then it will be taken up to the chapel. And then, he will pay le barman. Maybe. But first, the door!

Jacques answers the door cheerfully, still grinning about his artistic success.

Kaelan

You shift the dirt near the namu.

After a while, you find the bottom of the namu. You try to lift it, but nothing happens.

Apparently, the shrunken namu retains its weight.

Inser

You touch the namu, and tell it to vanish.

However, nothing happens - you realize you do not have any of your power left.

Thoki

"Totem is claimed. Power is gained by heading to the edge of creation. Other-power is gained by ... ..proved power ... gained by ... ."

The thing's voice slowly dies down to a whisper, before fading away. The shape of the humanoid shadow shifts and melts into nothing.

The giver of life, the sun mercilessly shines down in the daytime. The sun is not shadow's friend.

You leave the forest ... to where?

Mier

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Using 1 power, you obscure the namu from sight, before camouflaging it. You then head towards the north temple.

It is about 2 o'clock when you arrive.

Trendam

You realize that you are not exactly well prepared for travel - you don't have any methods of transport, no rations, and no idea of how to get to an outsider's city.

You have 1 travel pack (backpack), a waterskin, a lamp, a flask of lamp-oil, two day's worth of food, and 120 coin's worth in f-notes.

Salden

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Somehow, you make the namu sink into the ground. It smoothly retreats, leaving behind naught a trace. However, you know that you will be able to tell where it is - you have a trace of a tugging feel that approximates the location of it.

///////////////////EDIT - You use 1 power./////////////////////////////

Jacques

You answer the door.

On the other side is three men, in full plate, holding shields with images of a red scale on it. They all have face-obscuring helmets with visors and are armed.

"Sir, apologies for disturbing this peaceful night. We wish to inquire as to your knowledge of any 'magic' or other extra- or para-ordinary events; this is very important, and it is in your best interest not to lie."

One of the men taps his scabbard absentmindly. The man who spoke is in the middle.

You crane your neck and look to the neighboring house - judging by the sight, you can tell that the three men visited your neighbor, too.

I wasn't trying to use power. I was trying to give it an order.

Sit down and rest on the namu for a while.

"Hehehehe, neat!" Salden giggled. He turned to the raven, beaming.

"Okay! The namu's been hidden and I've still got a piece. Now what?"

Now that the shadow was gone Thoki had no one to talk to, and summoning another at this time of day would be a waste of time. Thoki tried his best to backtrack his way out of the forest. He'd have to make his way back to the temple to look into the bounty again, but before he could manage such a feat he sat down at the base of a tree. 'It's been a long day so far. Maybe I should have a nap before I walk home.' He was in the shadow of a tree, blocking the harsh sun from his eyes. He closed his eyes, and before long his head felt heavy and bobbed towards his chest. The bark of the tree dug into his coat, roughly holding onto the leather shoulder caps.

Nod off for a few hours until dusk.

Spoiler: Thoki Corviaten (click to show/hide)

EDIT: Got the meta out of my post. I'm headed for the temple again.
