So in my current 34.06 fort I got the "The dead walk, Hide while you still can!" announcement, I got sieged by 87 undead  (dwarves, goblins and elves ) and 3 (visible) necromancers...


I lock my dwarves inside while I finish my trap corridors... after a while they just stay camping outside my walls and I find that one of the necros is near a weird thing, that looks like a red shell, I check and it says "A campfire", in the wiki it says that you can make them as an adventurer but it doesn't mention anything about fortress mode, so may I ask... what the hell?

They are sieging you similar to how humans do. They sit outside, make some campfires, and try to wait you out. A fairly good strategy but not against those who grow their food underground.

Once they get battering rams and siege engines it'll be interesting. Random stones catapulted over the wall, bridges and gates smashed...

interestingly the necro near the campfire is a dwarf...


what can I do with the campfire?
It also generated ashes and smoke...

Nothing much really, they're just going to be used by the necro's to boil some water and make tea until you're ready to face the big bad horde of zombies outside. Then they'll burn out, and that'll be the end of that
