As I was playing my giant fortress I heard one of my 260 ish dwarfs got taken by a strange mood.
First though was, "great! another useless trinket and dwarf not working for a little while!".
Then he took a bow workshop.
And started gathering lots and lots of parts.
Now I have the most epic artifact I have ever seen. Its a Kapok bow with not one engraving explaining the history of the civilization, but two. One discribes the crowning of a new dwarven king in year 02, and the other discribes a team of a dwarf and human striking down a bronze colossus in year 03 (the bronze colossus is etched everywhere in my fortress, nothing about the two ettin attacks on the fortress itself, the dwarf who lost an arm is rather unhappy about that).
Its also apparently got an image of a forgotten beast. I hope thats not forshadowing anything.
Im quite happy since this is the first usefull artifact made by my fortress and the first one that explains any history at all (I mean doors? Come on, a floodgate?! Cant you guys come up with something usefull! Oh great... now an earing...)
It has been awarded to Athel erithomet, Captian of the Guard and Commander of The Cunning Armors band of Marksman to take into battle.
The creator, Ast Bomrekkekim, will be awarded a fully furnished new room for his achievement.
At 108,000 db it is the 3rd most valuable item in the fotress apparently, the most valuable item in the fotress being an artifact bucket (#1) and an artifact toy boat (#2). The bucket is currently in the hospital (gota give the sick and wounded something to look at) and I have no clue where the toy bot is, and can honestly say I really dont care.
