Human diplomat = vampire demon deity!?
« on: April 06, 2012, 05:17:42 pm »

So I got the king recently, and the human diplomat shows up to tell me how nice a place I've carved out.

Galka, deity

A huge kangaroo twisted into humanoid form with external ribs. It undulates rhythmically. Its eyes glow azure. Its amethst hair is long and straight. Beware its hunger for warm blood!

I at first worried that it might attack, so closed the drawbridge, and it swam under the lake to get in, so i sent my military near it... nope! Friendly horrific demonbeast. :)

... weird.

It's a metaphor. We are all demons deep down inside.

Prevent it from leaving/trap it until you figure out what to do!

Humans have very multicultural societies. This isn't even slightly unusual. Your demon escaped hell during worldgen and managed to make an honest, decent living as a humble diplomat who also worked nights as an imposter deity to help pay the bills. Or something. That doesn't really make any sense, but this is Dwarf Fortress.

Do trapped demons eventually go insane? A melancholy nigh-indestructible kangaroo demon randomly and harmlessly hopping around the map would certainly add to the atmosphere of the place.

If dwarves can take the HFS, I see no reason why demons can't obtain an honest day's wage.  Though I suspect disagreeing with this guy probably won't end well.

I had one of these demonic ambassadors visit and then take on the contents of my refuse heap after a visiting necromancer brought it to life. She killed sixty-six zombies before they took her down.

So, yeah, keep your visitor in an arena to execute whoever you want to see entertainingly disemboweled this week. If you've got some were-whatevers or minotaurs in cages OR if you've got a forgotten beast you want taken care of, arrange a meeting of minds.
