Major Rivers.
« on: April 06, 2012, 12:45:18 pm »

Quite a few versions back I built my fortress hanging over what looked like the Mississippi river which was going through a deep canyon. I haven't seen any water features like that in a while, has anyone else?

Some guy genned a map that had a huge river, so I DL'd that and used it.  Was horrible, hippos errywhere.  Managed to keep a workable fortress though.

This. Dark blue double-lines are majors. There are specific gen options you can tweak to get more of them, though I've forgotten what they are, now that I no longer care about non-aquifer water sources, thanks to the stagnation bug.

Try turning erosion cycles way up and setting the elevation variance as high as you can.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Given that you can walk on it, I think the River Ankh would count as a brook.

Never forget that technically the River Ankh is so solid it counts as land.
