Now we just need stone to be put in bins/barrels and I would be happy.

I think stone is going to get harder to store, not easier.  I'm sort of hoping that toady's "changing how mining works" will mean making a tile full of stone impassable, so that to dig a hole you have to put the contents somewhere.  This will make minecarts or wheelbarrows absolutely necessary for digging a fortress, to transport stone and rubble from the mines to the tailings heap.

Blocks are the exact same as stone except they can be stacked in bins. You can create crafts out of blocks.

Also, IF IM RIGHT, block constructed walls are smooth constructed walls, where normal stone walls are rough.
(this means, i think that block constructed walls can be engraved, i havent tried)

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

From magmawiki:

Quote
A single block is required in order to build a well, screw pump, or ashery. Blocks can also be used in place of raw stone or wood in roads, bridges, workshops and constructions (but not in items like crafts or furniture). Stone blocks are sometimes used as materials during strange moods.

Sorry

But yeah, I espect mined out tiles to become more of a challenge, even unskilled miners that don't leave a block behind would create some rubble I should think. I'll train my dorfs to fill their pockets with the dirt, sprinkle on their food, flush it down the toilet or drop it in the courtyard during their daily exercise hour.

If this happened, then hopefully the way dwarves decide to add items to stockpiles would change as well.  For example, if you have a stone stockpile in an underground soil/sand layer.  If tiles containing stones were impassable, you'd hope that the dwarves would be smart enough to add to the stockpile from the back to the front.

Leave anything to chance, eventually the RNG will roll a 1 and everything will erupt in a fountain of magma and vomit.

Not entirely sure, but I think I might've pointed out a flaw in your plan, given how dwarven construction usually goes.  I know, I know, they'll probably be better by the actually release, I'm just having fun.

*snip*

Dwarves arbitrarily fill stockpiles from the right to left and bottom to top. Dwarves place items by...yeah, they do need changes.

If a wall is constructed of anything, albeit rock or block, wood or ice, it will always be smooth.
