Things you just LOVE to see
« on: April 05, 2012, 11:30:19 pm »

Things in dwarf mode that give you warm fuzzies when they happen.  Can be spontenous, or the culmination of hard work and careful planning.  I'll start with some spontaneous ones.

Marksdwarf actually one shots something in the head, instead of putting 15 bolts into various extremities first.
Troll dying horribly to about a dozen of the 75 assorted war dogs you have roaming your fortress.
That moment when you see the giant version of some badass creature in the elves caravan

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

Kobolds and snatchers.

"Alright boys, live practice time! Go at 'em!"

Also, voidwalkers. Whenever they come, my filthy alcoholic midgets fuck them up and then eat them. Literally.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

small migrant waves.
The smaller, the better. I don't mind migrants, but I like have very, very small fortresses that will grow over time as children age into useful dwarves.
Better to have 15 very skilled dwarves than 50 dabbling/novice fellows with only a few skilled workers mixed in.

Also traders with shit I need to keep my fort alive in their pockets. Always a good thing.

After five years of work and a framerate lower than fifty, a massive 20-ish z-level tall pyramid. I'mma try and make an inverse pyramid next time. :D
