On Royalty
« on: April 05, 2012, 11:21:45 am »

So, has anyone gotten a king in 34.xx yet?
If not, then I guess I'm the first.
That's not what I want to talk about though.

In the king's entourage there was a Dwarf with a position I have never heard about before: "Exalted Control"
There is no entry in the wiki. Search is not helpful either.
What does she do? I mean, theoretically in lore terms and practically in game play terms,  what's her job?
I just got a message that she has made a ban on exports, but she is not in the 'N'obles screen.
Just noticed she share's the king's bed... doesn't explain much except maybe she's some fancy consort?
Is this new to 34.xx or has this been seen before?
If it's new, then what other features are there that weren't in the release notes?

Found 1 reference to "exalted control" in another thread. They seem to be talking about 34.xx also.

There seem to be many nobles with unusual titles, but I'm assuming here that it's simply the queen.

Her noble position is actually Consort, which she has by virtue of being married to the king.  "Exalted Control" is just her title, but how that title was generated is an interesting question.  It would be interesting to look at your world's Legends mode for your civilization.  Positions like "Exalted Control" are created randomly through history by various means, but this is the first time I've heard of it happening in a dwarven civilization.

Dwarfs marry once, and stay with that partner for their entire life. Both sexes are equal. Your argument is Elfish.

Well that's helpful. I'll try to remember to check the legends when this fort ends (though I've been thinking "it'll end tomorrow for sure-- one way or another. heheh" for the last few days and it somehow keeps on keeping on...).
Are the religulous titles new? And any idea how to figure out what she's banning, bc there is no entry in the noble's screen.

oh man... just looked through her relations:
Deity: Solon Obur Gomath: takes the form of a rotting male dwarf and is associated with fame, blight, death, war and valor.
year 8, received worship from a necromancer.
year 8, Stanceburn The Stern Leader was created by Solon.  !! What is this? !!
So, about religion. How far is it developed? If it's a god of necromancers then does that mean I'm in a necromancer aligned civ? or do necromancers worship the same gods as anybody else?
If bembul the neccy is still alive, chances are I have him in a cage trap...

She might be a necromancer.  Which would be awesome.  Kill some animals and see if she reanimates their corpses.

She walked through a huge pile of corpses to get into the fort...
There's no shortage of dead things lying around to have fun with.

Edit: Figured out how to check her mandates:
v, z. it's listed with her owned possessions. Not as convenient, but it will save my hammerer from being murdered for murder.
