And iirc the even older Merchant Prince/Machiavelli:The Prince from the late, great Microprose - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merchant_Prince

Head's up on the Bundle: Timer was extended by 3 days so there's plenty of time left.

There was plenty of time to begin with, but few biters.

The 1C bundle looks like a really good deal.

Actually, there IS a game where you can do that. I can't remember what it is, but it had a sort of a vague Sims feel, in a medieval setting, and a few different major paths you could choose (or do simultaneously) including attempting to become king, pope, a major merchant, or bandit lord. I know there were a few sequels too... Hrm. One of the more interesting elements I thought was that you could marry and have kids... and if you died (I usually got assassinated by political rivals) you'd continue as your child. And, depending on what kind of toys/schools you sent your kids too, their attributes were modified appropriately.

I think you mean either The Guild (aka Europa 1400) or it's sequal The Guild 2. I think both allow you to try career in the clergy but don't remember if you could be elected Pope.

I know The Guild well, but it's certainly not a game where you try to sway the curia to elect you pope. Playing the clergy is a game of trying to get people to go to your church so you can sell them stuff. Machiavelli allows you to control the papacy, but it's not really a Cardinal Quest.

I vaguely remember that you could also get to elect desired candidate as Pope in one of Paradox Grand Strategy games (Crusader Kings probably, maybe in Europa Universalis III too) and you'd have controll over papacy (excommuncating other rulers, starting crusades) but that's empire level management.

As for the bundle: It has less than 21 hours left with about 500$ to go for "shhh... it's a secret!" unlock.

These threads really need a small description of what the games actually are.  I don't recognize the names and when I hear "fort bundle" I think of stone walls and such.  Even a tiny description like "Old West, Squad-Based, Strategy" would give some idea of what it is :s

Actually 5 of the six games are marketed as some sort of RPG's and the sixth (steel storm) is an arcade shooter.

Here's Indie Game Magazine imressions on bundle and games included. I also posted links to let's plays and Indie Showcases for the games on second page of this topic. Maybe I should've included links to each games site or game card too.

    • Need an affordable website? I can help.

So... 2 days after it is unlocked and it's still a secret?

Did the secret bonus people back out and now they're all "Well, what do we give them now? Anyone have another sound track? Any cheap games that nobody cares if we give away?"

You'd think the secret would be out by now.

Might the secret be the "Indie Fort Bonus Content" now in the list?
It seems to include Fate of the World: Tipping Point, and the Machinarium soundtrack.

Edit: Maybe not?

Unless you are looking somewhere else those come up as related products, I don't think that necessarily means that is the secret option (though perhaps its a good chance).

Hm, I guess you're right. It's really not clear then.

I just got Zombie Shooter added to my account. So I'm going to guess that that was the secret bonus.

Edit: Turns out that Zombie shooter is a last minute addition to the 1C pack, which I also purchased. Sorry. I don't know what the secret content is.

Bumping to inform everyone that "shhh... it's a secret!" has finally been unlocked after almost 2 weeks of waiting. The game is Mordor: The Depths of Dejenol version 1.1 (originally intented as 50000 units sold bonus) and should be available for everyone who purchased the bundle alongside rest of the IndieFort Bundle Nr 1 Bonus Content. Just couple words of word of warning: It's very old game from 1995 and it apparently does not work on 64-bit windows as it's apparently 16-bit application. Only solution seems to be to run older os or 32-bit os thru virtualbox or install one on different partition.

Still waiting for developer thank you video.
