Non-evil, non-good, low/no-savagery, no aquifer, yes river or brook on one side of the map so that it's not like "zomg river all in the way".  Embarking with "Embark Now".  Basically, it'll be a generic, unimpressive location, from which we will build the obscene.

Just a suggestion Ace, you should go ahead and delete all the aquifers from the soil entities in the raws (And I think there's one in the stone layer as well) temporarily, as aquifers make rivers a problem.

Generally, rivers will be surrounded by a type of soil which allows aquifers as well as generating one, meaning that almost every site with a river will have either an aquifer or abysmal opportunity for minerals.

Then again, you guiz probably know all this already so I should stop backseat worldgenning

Are these not to be the most brilliant minds that have ever graced dwarf fortress? Possessing of an intellect which, excuse the pun, dwarfs that of any mere mortal?

They have already undergone apotheosis and transcended to a level of existence that none of us are capable of comprehending. Surely something as simple as a little aquifer would give them no trouble.

You should be aware of what you say, lest they look upon your doubt as a lack of faith and smite you for such insolence.

I've breached triple-layer aquifers. They're not that hard - you just have to know what you're doing. And get it done instead of waiting until everything freezes over.

I'd say no aquifer to keep things simple.  There's plenty of guides on how to handle them, and if we're looking for water the river will supply all our power needs.

I'm also getting better at worldgen and handling biomes and whatnot.  I usually play on perfectly flat embarks, but I can try different if we're wanting.

I'd suggest a flat, mostly basic embark with a corner of evil for the hell of it.

Well, given that (as I understand it) only one person can actually have the controls at a time, I think that the people who get voted in will likely have access to a group chat that only they can participate in. If just anyone can talk in the channel/group, then the voting was pointless, right?

Not really - the 7's ideas take precedence over any other's ideas. And a non-voted with talk power would only be for asking a question, really. or something of that nature.
