The only reason I hadn't supported until today was that I was holding out to be the guy that pushed it over $1million. But when the game is taking in several thousand dollars an hour, I knew by almost 4am I wasn't gonna make it.

So yeah. You reason for not donating before was....? :P I went in for $60, more for the personalized Doc Wagon Card and t-shirt than anything else. But at $15 you get a pre-order....and if I were them, I would be selling this for more than $15. So it seems like a good investment even at that level.

I really hope they change their mind about exclusive content for backers at 1.5 mil.  It seems pretty silly.

As a single mission in a game full of missions that only backers can see, I don't mind. It does seem like kind of a random thing to do but...well, it's his IP. Maybe he really liked both of those story arcs and thinks it's perfectly reasonable for him to use them. As he's said in the most recent video, they don't want to keep adding more features at this point because they're not wanting to be in development for 3 years. So this seems like a decent compromise. It's additional content they're already planning on making, it's backer only to drive even $1 dollar donations and it's got a hook that fans of the series will want to know about.

$1,195,295.

For those of you who aren't wild about the $1.5 million backers-only mission goal, HBS is hearing and will have something to say soon.

Are you aware that many of us don't want the special SNES/SEGA tie-in mission to be ONLY for Backers?

Definitely! And we appreciate the way the community is supporting one another. We'll definitely address it in our next video update, this week!

Also as an aside....I see a lot of you seem to have not played the SEGA Shadowrun? Believe me when I say it's worth the money, and it's closer to the table top Shadowrun than the SNES by far.

I've played both and beaten the SNES version, but I've never played paper and pencil. I tried once and was asked right away to roleplay without even having time to get my character's background going. Either way, this sounds like a good project. I'll have to check it out if it ever gets released.

One of the many innovations in Data East’s Shadowrun Super Nintendo game was a unique conversation engine that opened up new avenues of conversation based upon information you learned through interactions with characters and objects. We intend on taking a similar path with a new twist or two.

"Unique" here having the meaning of "broken", although it wasn't bad.  I still have a bitter spot for that game for how I played it for a couple years and never figured out what the Hell the Jester's true name is, or the other endgame stuff.

Surprised they didn't mention the Sega game.  The SNES one was cool as an RPG, but I liked the Sega one more, just for the rather enjoyable random hacking missions (the real draw of the game) giving it an action-puzzle kick that stayed refreshingly fun for a while.

Nice to know that the Kickstarter is ALREADY planning DLC before the game is even out...

No wait that sucks...

DLC isn't evil. And for a small company like the one making this Shadowrun game, it's even more appropriate for them to offer it. DLC is a great compromise for the Backer Only Content.

http://penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/mass-effect-3-dlc  Great digestible video going into DLC, and in particular Day 1 DLC.

Which DLC are you on about? They haven't said anything about what shape or form it will take other than "backer only."

It's been mentioned a couple places around the Kickstarter page. Doesn't seem to figure as largely as the SNES game to them though.

I don't know... I should probably read the Kickstarter

Especially since there is no planned DLC

(actually I misinterpreted some comments)

I really enjoyed the conversation system in that game - although I think making it 'non-broken' is more a matter of making sure to avoid too-obscure riddles on their part. Or at least not hide major plot elements that are required for moving forward in the game behind them - little easter eggs and stuff, sure. That 'ice' conversation topic... eugh. It took me FOREVER to figure that one out.

One thing you have to keep in mind, though, is that this is the internet age. Anybody who can't figure out something like that nowadays won't be stuck. They'll just go to google and be on their way in five minutes.

$1,215,754

I enjoyed it because it was a reason to revisit old NPCs. Even if they were giving you gameplay information, it was kinda cool to get more detail on a topic from someone you already knew.

In fact, I think the time I like it the least is when I'm required to go visit someone from the beginning of the game because they know something I need to know.

Trying to decide if it's worth it to get that DocWagon card or not.

And maybe the anthology.  :X  I've never had my name in the credits of something.

...But if you go as far as $100, it's just a short hop to $125, which gives you like twice as much swag.  God damn it, guys.  Okay I'll hold out 'til closer to the end, then decide how much to donate.

I've never bought a crazy-ass Collector's Edition of a game in my life, and I figured, I've been waiting for this specific game since I was a teenager....I probably held out long enough for a game I undeniable want. If it wasn't Kickstarter driven, I doubt I would have done more than pre-order. But knowing I'm adding to their funding pool, and I'm getting a sick Collector's Edition, was enough to convince me it was worth it.

Having a job and disposable income also helped mightily with that decision. Really I just wanted the t-shirt and *A* Doc Wagon card to begin with. But now I'm very curious what other goodies they're going to put on the USB drive. And hey, free USB drive! Gonna have to be at least 40 gigs I would think.
