Don't tell me this is one massive "look at me and everyone pay attention to my birthday" narcissistic cowpoo.  I don't think Notch is that bad to do something so blatant, but I've seen more surprising displays before...

I meant a visual pop, don't worry. There will be no sound in space, and that's a promise!

My excitement for this game just increased by several magnitudes.

Eh, I'm either way on that.  On the one hand, it's scientifically accurate, on the other hand, being scientifically accurate is generally very boring.

I think yes.
I still hope we have visable lasers tough, no matter how scientfically wrong they are.

And ones that won't explode your eyeballs if you look near their source, too.

Real lasers suck.  :(

Or instead of lasers we can have plasma beams. Those are visible in space, though not as fast as a laser.

Anyone who's ever seen Star Wars knows that lasers are slow.

In fact I'm betting that this game will have Star Wars physics all around.  Which is plenty fine with me; I consider "Tie Fighter" to be the height of space flight sims.

We have already gone over this newtonian physics r in, and lasers aint even visible or shit in space, and theyre about the speed of light.

Star Wars 'lasers' are more like short beams of plasma anyway.

Took me a while to make sense of your grammar...

Notch does seem to have reversed his stance a few times.  Did he actually say "lasers are invisible and the speed of light"?

I don't think they ever even refer to them as lasers. It's always "blasters"

The term laser is used, but it's really just a commonly used term for more powerful blaster weapons. Ever heard of a turbolaser battery?
