I think it might partially work with 255 connections? Not sure.

Maybe it's one of those ones where there's a set number of different patterns, and you have to compile them all and collaborate or something...?

Considering what Notch is like, it's either that or a link to another DCPU emulator, this one with the OS he mentioned.

I was checking what other people had and found this greyscale map of a large portion of data : http://i.imgur.com/Cl0kO.png
also the same person averaged each repeating portion to a single picture : http://i.imgur.com/q5eFW.png

If it's not an artifact, this is pretty much a form of binary code similar to the one in the arecibo message (a white block is 1, a dark block is 0), and decoding the averaged picture from binary to decimal gave me a list of numbers :

1 2 3 5 6 8 9 11 14 15 18 20 21 23 26 29 30 33 35 36 39 41 44 48 50 51 53 54 56 63 65 68 69 74 75 78 81 83 86 89 90 95 96 98 99 105 111 113 114 116 119 120 125 128 131 134 135 138 140

Now as you can see this is pretty much counting and skipping, assuming i got the endian right, which i think is the case, so from that i think there are several possibilities :

A/ the skipping is an artifact produced by the low resolution of the picture and/or because the averaged picture was made with segments that are 4096 long, and maybe the period is slightly different (i think it could be 4000 instead)
B/ maybe there is a part in each 4096 (or 4000) segment that is changing as time goes on, and therefore blurred by the averaging
C/ Maybe this is a countdown, and we are at 140 (which could be a number of days), and as time goes on the number will diminish.

I think C/ is very probable what's with notch tweeting about pulsars slowing down.

I suggest watching if these numbers change over time.

Edit : I cleaned, resized, and tweaked the picture a bit so that it's easier to read the binary code in the greyscale picture :

you can use any binary to decimal converter like the one in the windows calculator to get the same values as me from that.

It's a countdown to June 1st, Notch's birthday. At least, that's the conclusion I've seen other people come to as well.

It's unknown what will happen on June 1st though, besides his birthday. DCPU release? 0x10c alpha? Just a countdown to a birthday party?

Notch has already mentioned a celebration to which press and folks are being invited to in June IIRC

Don't tell me this is one massive "look at me and everyone pay attention to my birthday" narcissistic bullshit.  I don't think Notch is that bad to do something so blatant, but I've seen more surprising displays before...

He held a convention in Vegas to celebrate the 1.0 release of his $20 indie game. That's pretty god damn narcissistic

...his indie game which, at that point, had garnered millions of purchases. It's hard to admit with my attitude to the game, but I think using some of his massive huge piles of money for something like that isn't really narcissistic. Rather, more "woo, it's finally out."

To be fair, $20 indie game basically made his career and let him found a whole company.  It's not just "Notch's Game" it's "Mojang's Project" now.  Minecraft became wildly popular and wildly profitable, and is a success worthy of throwing a convention.  That one, I'll give him, was justified narcissism.
