Fighter jet might not necessarily be all that bad. Sure, it wouldn't be very space-efficient, but I can think of far less efficient designs. Besides, there's nothing that says there's not going to be /any/ planets with atmospheres anymore.

I wonder if fighters will be at all feasible. By fighters I just mean small combat vessels not ones that move like fighter jets. I suppose it depends how powerful lasers are and how realistic they are too. With modern targeting technology and a powerful laser a fighter would be easy to take down. Just think of the Phalanx CIWS.

I kind of hope small combat ships will be possible but the prospect of really large combat ships duking it out over large distances is also cool.

I'll have a lot of fun with horribly inefficient designs.  Anyone can run the numbers and design a perfect ship; I'd love to emulate a fighter jet just because I /can/, who cares if it wastes fuel and flies like a brick.

Yep. Looking fun to experementing and seeing what I can do, regardles of practicality. Looking forward to this game.

A cube isn't greatly optimised, particularly for combat. It makes an easy target for one, plus it would make it difficult to avoid space debris and such.

Some kind of ARG for this now. Apparently the number goes up based on the number of active connections. We're still quite a way from 100%.

I should get an avatar, almost look like a spambot with a link like that.

Does it really need to add text constantly? Leaving this on all night would probably become a killer for memory.

Sadly, it won't
It auto-closes the connection after some amount of time. Something like 10-15 minutes.

some web crawling led me to the following information:
http://cds.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/Dic-Simbad?/9353517 says PSR stands for Pulsar and it also says the format is PSR BHHMM+DD
I assume it's a coordinate.

Now only the 'AT 5.534417156693186' part must be understood.

@#!$, after searching & writing all this I find someone already done that at http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/notch-going-full-nerd.71821/ and probably more places...

This looks like radar beeps to me when converted to sound, i have worked on old land to air radar with that kind of functioning my guess would be that it is coding for coordinates

Edit: a moving object anyone ?
here is a 1 minute footage of the recorded data... http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zvdi5vv7b4x2669
Entirely wrong on analysis , Pulsar stars emit a similar wawes this one is at 0.25 hz
in image now http://i.imgur.com/Qcdl7.jpg, you can see there appears to be redundancy..
image 2 http://i.imgur.com/TJcr1.png, definite redundancy I would go for a radar that is going round and round, lol.
converted coord dumps for 64*64 with a 0.25 hz http://pastebin.com/YBuYmtSL.
