The most confusing holiday ever concieved.

It's not confusing depending on how you celebrate it.

Here in England it "Hey, let's all eat fuck-ass huge chocolate eggs, small-ass chocolate eggs filled with caramel, and assorted chocolatey-ass chocolate bars".

Smart.
Not so different from Finland, then. Except here we have kids dressing up as witches and doing the whole Halloween "trick or treat" style thing, as well.

But mostly chocolate. Yum.

Tonight: Practice dwarven hermit challenge.
Tomorrow: Buy ALL the discounted chocolates!
You're a genius! Here, have my finest +«*Llama Wool Sock*»+s. I'm so going to raid the shops tomorrow.

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
If you launch a wooden mine cart towards the ocean at a sufficient speed, you can have your entire dwarf sail away in an ark.

Earlier today I had a whole bag of assorted chocolatey-ass eggs that I had bought myself.

Caramel Eggs, Cadbury's Creme Eggs, Galaxy Eggs, Lindor Eggs, and those delicious malteaser bunny bastards. Overall I think it weighed more than I do. Now they are half gone. I have a wedding to attend THIS WEEK and I will never squeeze into my 28" skirt.

NO REGRETS.

Append a temporary 4-inch strap to the waistline of the skirt and call it an experiment in fashion. :P

According to this apparent sizing chart, my Size 0 jeans amount  to ~32" hips.  I need more substantially feminine curves T_T

To the day-after-easter sales! >:D

One item that I have been gripping about recently is the lack of end game content that is in dwarf fortress.
HFS?

HFS isnt content its instant *CANDY* in your face.
for me any content is endgame content :(

So does that make it the ultimate candygram from hell? *rimshot*  And the HFS certainly doesn't qualify as end-game content.  It's more of a bonus area.

GAH SO EXICTED!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=100851.1260

ToadyOne's recent answers in the Future Of Dwarf FOrtress thread really gives a clear idea of what minecarts can really do.

Top things that make me excited from what has been said is:

1) Minecarts will hurt creatures depending on the speed and mass of the cart.

2) Minecarts going too fast at a turn will create "fun".

3) Minecarts will be able to jump ramps and land on tracks on the other side of a hole.

4) Dwarves will eventually be able to ride in minecarts at some point in the future, but not necessarily this release.

5) You can create a Newton ball out of Minecarts :O think of the contraptions that could be built.

I was thinking more along the lines of this legendary champion, all clad in dented and dinged up steel plate, his blood-drenched axe slung over his back, a notch in the handle for every enemy that saw the swing of that blade as the last sight they ever saw, a battered shield strapped over his arm... and a fluffy, pink stuffed hippo hidden discretely in his breastplate.

It's treated as completely normal because this is Dwarf Fortress.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with a wall of flames, only to later realize that you're surrounded by a wall of flames.
There's nothing that can't be solved by hurling fifteen roc birds at it.

I'm envisioning an isolated gulag. A sealed catacomb of torment where new prisoners are introduced via minecart launcher. Regular shipments of goods are expected in return, lest the food-carts stop. Those sent inside never see their families again, the gulag is their family now.

Honestly it sounds like Exile, we could have a whole new kind of fun with segregated forts and role-play.

What is this madness?

Minecart related:
If minecarts physics aren't affected by magma, like everything else so far, we could have the perfect fat melting machine here, run the carts right through magma with your soldiers on them.

Another thing we could do with the booster tracks, we can make an infinite revolving minecart shield around your fort. Bonus points for any magma, as always. Double that if it explodes everywhere when the cart hits something.

Tonight, I had a very short dream about Dwarf Fortress. I saw a small part of a fortress, and it had some minecarts. Their symbol was 0, but they had a very stupid color like orange or purple. I didn't see any tracks.
It also was a tileset I don't recall seeing before.

Yeah, as DF assimilates you, the dreams will become more and more vivid until you can see the universe in either tile graphics or ASCII at the edges of your vision.
