But the thing works like a charm, and it was really easy to merge into my version for once, so Chartle did a splendid job on this. <3
A slightly less underwhelming thing would be that i have added unique sprites for each turret type, so the different weapons look different on the ship. Not that you ever get a lot of time to look at it, but hey, at least the sprites include muzzle flashes. :U
Front guns will be trickier, but i'm sure we'll think of something. Other than this and the menu graphics, all we have left to do is level design and the last tier of upgrades (as well as a few cosmetic things) before v0.9 is ready. And maybe get hold of the musician again, because we're outta tracks.

yes i intend to slap on silly icons wherever i can and find it reasonable to do so

ROCKET SPAAAAAAAAAAAM

It's actually possible that the rockets are the most powerful late-game weapons (they do suffer a little bit in the first level, however), since their splash damage can affect more enemies than the piercing shots of other weapons, and also cause full splash damage to all of them. Not as effective against widely spaced enemies though, and the splash damage doesn't make enemies splinter even if you have the upgrade. Except the super rocket, which does cause splintering in all destroyed enemies for maximum glory. ;o (and yes it does have a very large blast radius, balancing it is tricky because of the damage potential)

Also, a playthrough on Nightmare again reveals that the lower cash income makes the game a fair bit harder than before, so now Nightmare is actually comparable to the Nightmare difficulty in other games. It also led me to nerf the red lasers, so they only deal 6 damage instead of 8. :U (so now red shots only do 20% more damage instead of 60%)

Now the two start buttons just need some actual graphics instead of a cropped 10 second doodle. :I

Well, you've been able to switch between QWERTY and AZERTY for a while now, but that's about it as far as keybinding goes. :I (you can press K in the main menu to do that)

Gentlemen.



This is the beginning of cool things. If you find WSAD/ZSQD to be inadequate, you can set your very own movement keys! Obviously also super shot buttons and the little known "fly at half speed" button, though i'm not sure if it'd be necessary to have the mouse buttons be rebindable. It's a bit of a hassle. :U

Also, i reworked the dash to be a bit more intuitive. Now it's a tap-and-hold in the direction you want to go... While NOT firing. Makes sense that you aren't as able to dodge while concentrating on firing, though you can begin firing during the dash. I feel this to be less awkward than doing a half-circle motion, and also easier to explain.

And, since we can now save things between games, achievements just became possible, although it'd be shockingly easy to cheat and get them via INI editing. BUT THEN IT'S NOT AN ACHIEVEMENT, YOU LOUSY LAZY PERSON. Proper saving that doesn't glitch out should also be possible, if a bit tricky to get down.

e - Just tried it - Awesome game! The bosses are a pain; they each killed me about 50 times.

Thanks mate! Also yes, the bosses are rather difficult, they have to substitute for an entire level. They might still need some balancing, of course. :U

there is no upper limit to scale and intensity

Although once the glows become completely opaque and screen-covering, making them bigger and brighter won't make much sense. :U
