Project: Hyperactivity
« on: April 03, 2012, 09:46:54 am »

I was wondering: could I create a mod that allowed dwarves to grow tea or coffee?
My ideas would be: Tea would be extracted from a plant at a still, and coffee would be ground into a powder at a mill and brewed at the still. Tea would give a happy thought and would make would healing go faster, and coffee would give a happy thought and make the dwarf in question move, work and live faster for a while. Coffee dependancy would be possible. Just as there are different alcohols, there would be different beverages, with slightly different qualities. Ie, green tea/black tea, and arabica/robusta. Tea could be grown in [NOT FREEZING] and coffee could be grown in [WARM] or higher. Humans would pay a higher price for coffee, elves a higher price for tea.

So the question is; how would I go about making this work?
Much thanks

This would be very much possible, easy even.
Just add this to coffee:
[SYNDROME]
[SYN_INGESTED]
[SYN_AFFECTED_CLASS:GENERAL_POISON]
[CE_(speechangeCEthingy here, you can find it on the syndrome page of the wiki)]

Would be a nice mod, too.

Lignite + Iron = Oven (Lignite burns for nearly forever iirc)
Tealeaves + Bucket(water) = Bucket(tea)
Bucket(tea) + Dwarf = Catsplosionx100

You're evil.

Tea needs to have milk added to it.

Failure to do so is blasphemy of the highest order.

Well you could mod tea, so that everyone who drank tea transcended into a higher form of life.

Tea, two bags, leave the bags in. Dash of milk. No sugar. Anything else is just HERESY *Blam*

We English put milk in our tea, and nobody knows more about tea than the English.

And clearly people have no idea how to mod.  You can't request a bucket of water in a custom reaction.  You actually can request water, but the dwarves won't fill it, and will only utilize the water if there's a bucket that's already been filled.  There is no way to tell a dwarf to fill a bucket.

You also can't mod in thoughts, so they won't get a happy thought from drinking tea, aside from the vanilla "enjoyed a fine drink lately."

You can, however, mod in a short-term syndrome that causes an increase in speed or an increase in agility, both will have the same effect.  For that matter, you could also have it change their strength, perception, endurance, etc.

Now we just need dwarven cocaine.

I bet you put cream and sugar in your coffee too.  Disgusting.

What is this "coffee" you speak of?

I need only refined taste of tea to enrapture me with its delicate, milky embrace; to warm the depths of my heart and provide me with its pleasant company on the endless rainy days.

I would never cheat on tea with some uncouth harlot like coffee.
