Don't tell anyone that you can see their shadows. If they hear you telling anyone, if you let them know that you know of them, they will get you.

Time to save this thread from epic derailment!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

There should probably be a new tea plant... I dot know alot about modding, but I know tea requires a warm climate to grow. You whould only be able to grow tea in warm and hot biomes above ground, or near a heat source (lava? Is that possible?)

I don't think we'd want temperature calculations in our tea.

But really, I would love this. I would have it given to prisoners to deny them sleep. That would be all they get, sleep and starve, or drink and live. Forever.....

You forget the fact that 5 days of zero sleep kills a human. Obviously things in this game are different, as they go weeks without sleeping, but the fact still holds true... Deprive any creature of REM beyond their tolerance level (caffeine prevents REM sleep for 6-8 hours after consumption, fyi), and you get memory loss, concentration problems, insanity, inability to remain awake, and, eventually, death.

Absolutely zero sleep, yes. By day 4 its impossible to stay awake under normal circumstances. If you can find a way to push it to 5, death. At that point, you fall directly into REM, which normally takes 90-120 minutes to reach. Even 5 minutes of REM can delay death.

So yes, if absolutely no sleep can be achieved. Death.

Edit: we've taken patients just passed the 3 day mark, just to see what happened. It wasn't pretty, lol. They tried to leave, collapsed into REM in the hallway. After they slept for most of a day, they were fine.

We took animals all the way, tho :D

But for the most part, wouldn't the average person begin experiencing hallucinations around the 4-5 day mark, rather than extreme symptoms like death?

Also, 3 day mark - personal record

Ya, those are around the 3-4 mark. That was part of the "not pretty." :-D

And 5 is an estimate based on a comparative timeline to test animals. We've not actually killed humans to test this... >.> :p

120 hours is the approximate point the human brain can no longer tell your lungs to breath, or your heart to beat. Again, it would be nearly impossible to drag a human to that depth of sleep deprivation... The animals were hard enough :-D

Fun fact: The hour of sleep many of us lost due to DST, causes the equivalent level impairment as a .10 blood alcohol level. And it takes at least 3 days, some people as long as a week, to overcome that. Doesn't take much loss of sleep to mess with you.

You're all thinking stupidly..

Tea = just a bush that gives leaves, easy to mod in.
Grown only in warm/temperate(warm seasons) climates UNLESS inside a greenhouse.
A greenhouse is a building made entirely out of green glass. (GG walls and roof(Can't do floor as you can't grow plants on glass :())

Currently in adventure mode, you don't die from never sleeping. However, the combat penalties usually lead to your death due to random goblin/bogeyman ambush.
