Problem with stockpiles
« on: April 03, 2012, 07:11:54 am »

Hello, I have a little problem with my stockpiles

After started a new game, I ordered to my carpenter to make some bins and barrels, and I constructed a custom stockpile, where my dwarfs are allowed to stock everythings without corpses and refuses. But they just put in an empty barrel and an empty bin. My logs are outside on the floor, where my woodcutter cut trees, and I have a barrel near my still, full of Dwarf wine ... I don't know wassup ...

Thanks for helping

PS : I'm a noob and I'm not very good in english, so sorry for the mistakes. I'm not using graph pack and dwarf therapist.

Did you set it to actually accept barrels and binsas anything other than "furniture/tools"? q over the stockpile, e/r and c/v

Also, they are idots when it comes to priority, your average dorf, patience is required.

As long as you have the right stockpiles they will get hauled... eventually. If you feel they are not hauling enough there are several solutions:

- do less work and more hauling (I typically use my wood cutters and miners as haulers for short periods of time in young forts).
- attract more haulers migraints.
- hope the next version comes soon with improved hauling.

Yes, I set the stockpiles correctly ... The weird it when I build another stockpile than a custom stockpile, they haul items and barrels in it ... and when I use x to remove the stockpile whiwh doesn't work, nothing happen.

And, you said, "attract more migraints". How do you do that :p ?

Is your stockpile covered by hidden stones?
If not then try removing it and redesigning it (along with reselecting the options for the stockpile).

This is the problem, I can't remove stockpiles, so I deduced they're bugged.

I've had zero problems removing stockpiles in .07.

You are using (p)(x) correct? (Don't want to offend, but you can never be too careful.)

http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/v0.31:Immigration#Immigration_mechanics (short version: 2 hardcoded immigrant waves then your wealth reported by the caravan decides).

To remove a stockpile:
hit p->x then move cursor to one corner, hit enter-> move to the opposite diagonal corner and hit enter again.

Another thing easy to miss is quality and material. For instance q-s for settings-> finished goods-> you need the material and quality, not just type.
