What? If he's going to be filling his fortress with crundles they should be be enormous, vascular, fat crundles. You could probably feed an entire fortress with crundle fat biscuits. Maybe you could mod them to have hair so you could start a textile industry, making crundle hair clothes,crundle hair ropes, and other necessities out of crundle hair. Don't even get me started on the utility of crundle leather, when your military gets thirsty they can take a swig out of their crundle skin pouches.
