Crundle breeding
« on: April 03, 2012, 01:53:47 am »

So I've started breeding crundles. The first 13 crundle eggs are waiting to hatch.

I wonder how effective they are in combat. They are really small. Does that mean, they are very hard to hit?

They're useless in combat, other than being sitting ducks. Hell a child can kill one. Small, weak, not very aggressive. They breed quickly, so make excellent arrow fodder against gobbo archers though.

Though maybe if you can train them to war crundles...

My eggs haven't hatched though - I've had to forbid them to prevent dwarves from constantly stealing them, is that why?

I have a clutch of 8 which havent hatched in more than 2 seasons.

They will harvest any eggs they can get their hands on to stick in food stockpiles. Best bet is to make the nest boxes in a lockable room, once the crundles are in (make it long so they are all in before one claims a nest box) lock the door, the dorfs wont be able to gather them for food now.

Crundles are best used as edible meatshields. Have a single, weak recruit with no friends assigned 929382938 war crundles. They should take the hits for him in combat, eventually- even if a bunch die his teammates should put him down instantly.

So...who here remembers the crundle thread after someone pointed out that the crundle is the bit of skin between balls and anus? Crundle soap! Crundle roasts! Crundle leather! The fun never ends!

I always called and heard it called the "grundle"

Right. The idea of a "semi-wild crundle" or a "well-trained crundle" has been bugging me for a while...
