gloves gauntlets boots n' shoes.

Are they made in pairs? For example, if I want to properly outfit six dwarfs with gauntlets do I need to forge six times or twelve?

Yes, they're made in pairs.


Exceptions for artifacts. They only make one of whatever it is.

Ah, excellent. Thank you. I was uncertain, because the command is "forge ____ gauntlet", rather than gauntlets.

about that, if i assign a dwarf an artifact gauntlet / boot, do I also need to assign him a second one in the military equip screen, or will he go find another non-artifact one to match?

You need to assign a second one.

A specific one, too. I had trouble getting my commander to wear an artifact high boot when I had the artifact + "high boots" assigned. He wore two normal high boots, until I took that off and assigned him a second specific one.
