Community Succession game, with community ruling, succession yearly...ish. (read on)
Overseers (1 remaining) <<< Bad name, it's not only 2 people can play succession, read rules, those are like barons.
Turns run slightly different, the overseer’s leave with the caravan, return with the next migration wave, along with a new leader to replace the current one. As soon as the game pauses with the alert that a migration wave has arrived following the complete departure of the caravan, pause, save, and upload. Realistically, if the migrants come a few days after the caravan departs, that’s not nearly enough time for a roundtrip, so go until the next wave.
Use DFFD for save files.
DFReveal is forbidden. Embark screen is the only beforehand knowledge of the embark.
Tilesets and visualizers are allowed, just be sure to return the save to default ASCII before uploading. I’ll be using the LNP GUI to quickly do this.
Lots of screenshots are prefered, but a wall of text will do as well, I suppose...
The King and Queen are looking for a new Mountainhome! This is the goal of this game. The powers of the King/Queen:
- Define generic goals to be accomplished, both for the fort in general, and for the current year.
- Define embark qualifications. This includes size, as well as everything determinable by the finder tool. For easy division of powers, this list is split in half, first half determined by King, second half determined by Queen.
- Define what kind of neighbors they would like.
- Update/Define new goals once the overseer’s return with the caravan, informing you of the progress.
*^^Please, please, PLEASE!!!, if you wish to specify something that MUST be in the embark, fine, but make those as few as possible, I don’t want to spend the next week genning worlds looking for the one that matches everything you want...
The Overseer’s are the Royalties eyes, ears, and mouths to the fort. As such, they report yearly to the Royalty the state of their new home. They will, of course, be displeased and wish to replace the leader.
- Provide specific goals to the furtherance of the overall goals the Royalty sets. Mandatory.
- Provide input/counsel on all decisions the leader decides to consult with them on.
- If an overseer wishes to retire, a new overseer can be designated to be sent next time.
*^^ How this translates to the game/forum:
- When the migration wave comes and the save if passed, you set goals and whatnot for the new leader, based on the broad goals given by the King/Queen.
- If the leader does multiple updates, he can ask for your opinion, update goals, etc. Otherwise you take care of your business before the new leader takes over.
Seasonal updates are encouraged, as this will give the overseer’s more opportunities to provide input, but not required.
King/Queen: Feel free to change each and every thing you demand of your new home each year, because, well, it’s your new home! We want you to be happy! (and it’s more ‼FUN‼ for the current player:p)
Dorfing is allowed, but only as dorf’s become available, so don't ask ahead of time. :p I’ll be taking the initial leader/manager/broker/bookkeeper, so the other 6 will be immediately available. They will be:
-Mason
-Crafter
-Grower
-Cook
-Hauler
-Miner (<< lol, almost forgot him... Sat here thinking, what other positions do I need?)
*^^ To this end, with your final update and upload, please inform us of how many migrants are arriving. This can be accomplished either by Dwarf Therapist, or by reopening the save after uploading and counting them. :p (This is when you can claim dorfs)
As stated above, the overseer’s leave with the caravan, and return with a new leader with the next migrant wave. USE THIS OPPORTUNITY! This will be your only chance to do anything without their oversight :-D
I want to keep the turn list small, I’m thinking of only putting on 5-10 names at a time, and the turns fast, so maybe 5 days max, with a 24-36 hour file pickup post? <<< This will give time for the King/Queen/Overseer’s to do their thing. Should these times be shorter? Names list shorter/longer?
New turns can NOT start until the King/Queen/Overseer's make their posts!
I'll be genning pocket worlds with 250yr history, to keep the file size small, FPS up (always seems higher for me, dunno why), and saves faster (I use seasonal autosaves, smaller is faster).
