Do I need evil for cave dragons?

Evil tag hasn't worked on cavern creatures in a while now.

I have a hankerin' for Cave Dragons - do I need to embark on an evil land, or am I still likely to find them underground anywhere savage enough to support them?

A dragon has to go underground and get trapped there I believe.

If you meen do you need to embark on a evil location- no. I have got a cave dragon on a perficly normal embark.

It seems the good, evil, and possibly savage tags do not work for underground creatures.

And honestly I'm fine with it. If it means I can get cave dragons, I am willing to get also more pests like gorlaks, maneras and creeping eyes.

I am in a savage forest with a savage ocean and I had a cave dragon go through my deepest cavern. So no evil needed.  ;)

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

Nope doesn't need to be evil. That said I haven't seen many yet, trapped and tamed a female once but was never lucky enough to have a male help make some whelps.

Yep, the tokens work, but they work on surface biomes. So if you have [ANY_LAND][SUBTERRANEAN_CHASM][EVIL] creature, it will appear in any evil land AND underground.

Basically what others said, the underground biome does not have good/normal/evil nor benign/normal/savage destinction.

cave dragons are pretty rare. in all my time playing DF, I only ever saw one. I only saw that one because I was using the DFhack reveal feature for the first time.

You can tame invader pets, but I don't know if it has any effect.  Tamed giant olms were attacked the moment they reached my pasture, or when hauled past some human guards in my depot.
