Quote from: Xan->Dumbass Cat
I didn't, you dumbass cat. Plus I can't exactly read.

Quote from: Xan->Feyri
Some robot overloaded a manipulator and a giant chunk of stone fell on him like a boot on an insect.

Once at the hangar, go absorb the corpse Auron brought me, then go munch on some of the Sod corpses.
Sod Corpses are closer and more numerous, so you just go eat those. Or rather you expand into a horrible membrane and engulf whole bodies, absorbing their biological components and ejecting the mechanical ones. You take about a dozen bodies, stopping only because you're starting to weigh in the tons.

Jim somehow manages to get himself standing and gets to the infirmary to await replacement arms.

You walk into the infirmary and sit in triage as the more injured of your team is  seen to. You look at your burnt, blown off stumps and sigh.

There aren't even any magazines to read around here...

Wordlessly help Jim to his feet so he can get to the infirmary. Go grab a hover trolley to unload our dead.

Once the casualties are unloaded, head back to the roof and pickup Lyra and Gorat (and Tack, if Feryi hasn't already made it back to the Sword with his corpse)

You help Jim to the infirmary. Then Anton. Then Lars, then Jack's body, then...it becomes a blur of injured men and blood.

Finally, you get your ship emptied of people and walk back to the cockpit, boots squeaking through a thin coating of blood on the floor. The trip to get the people stranded on the roof is a short one and you're back in minutes, unloading them the same way.

Lars helped the other injured to their feet and to the infirmary, especially Jim.

"O Emar-i, may you guide the hands of the medical personnel as they see to our wounded.  May the light of Steve ever shine on them."

Help Jim and the other injured get to medbay.  Go myself.
You sit near Jim, poking at your leg as nurses hurry about, trying to tend to all the injured. You're pretty low priority, what with just this leg. Even Jim with his missing arms and rebar acupuncture is waiting. Guess people like anton, who are bleeding internally, get first dibs.

Unload jack onto the infirmary bound hovertrolley then move to my loot crate and stash Michael and his gear,
separate all loot from my Urban Executors body then decapitate him and drop his head in the crate before handing his body over to Xan for biomass absorbtion, have him spit out any implants he finds.

Seperate the loot from michaels body then close the crate and inspect its hovermajigs, do they run off of electricity or space magic?

You dump the stuff in a box and check out the hover trolleys. They appear to run on electricity; and they have quite a limited time span it seems. They can be charged quite quickly, but can only hover for a few minutes at a time at full load.

Celebrate Jim's victory by beatboxing.

Who saw this coming? I did.

Be less dead

Maurice is standing over you when you wake up. He's wearing scrubs and is pretty much covered in blood.

"I'll be honest with you..." He looks at his data pad "Teal. Sorry, lot of new faces. Most of then in pieces. Um. Well most of your organs are damaged to some degree. Burnt or burst. extensive skin burns, muscle damage...We can fix you up and keep you organic but it will take a bit. And you'll be pretty scarred up. Or we can go for the robot body. Opinions?"

"No... I would guess you are an AI, wetware?"
wander around

>Of course.

You wander out into the hall and come face to face with a procession of bloody, injured men and women in space suits either limping or being dragged down a hall toward the infirmary. You see a man dumping a corpse into a large metal box and shutter. Feels like someone walked over your grave.

"Hiss boom baah?.."

Dream of exploding electric sheep. Receive medical help. Be less unconscious.
You wake up in the infirmary; a medigel bag wrapped around your torso and an iv of pain killers and blood being pumped into your arm. Well...thats good at least.

Quote from: Morul Migrurkeshin to Miyamoto
So, now that Jim is gone, should we, uhh, see if we can get that slab off of Grate? I think we all know what we'll find, but we could at least scrape something up for them to bury.

If Miyamoto agrees, lend a hand in lifting the rock, or at least scraping up what's left. If not, just follow Miyamoto.
"So... no Shadow Walkers, then? Hm. What do we do now? Go to the ship, or is there something else we need to do?"

Mill about uncertainly. Follow Miyamoto if he goes anywhere.
Quote from: Simus>Feyri
I don't know whether you've heard, but that kid you were with is gone. Someone's, I think it may have been Stacy's, manipulator overloaded, and though they got it into the room where the amp specialist was hiding, he shielded himself and we got the short end of the stick, so to speak. Or maybe he tossed some of the chaos back at us, I don't know. All I know is the kid had a big piece of rock fall on him, we couldn't even see him afterwards. not going to say he's dead - like I said, we didn't see a body or any other indication, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

If it's any consolation, after it happened and the specialist came out of hiding unharmed, Jim obliterated him. Not even a body left to inspect, he's gone.

If Miyamoto agrees with Morul, assist them with extraction of likely Gratepaste.
STEPHEN HAWKING amp punches the Grate-rock, attempting to punch it in half and reveal a creamy child center.

((Though, yknow hopefully not "creamy" in the "you punched his brain open" way.))
((I've forgotten where I actually am, I think I got left near Miya's group with the blackship?))

Pan, having totally jumped out of the blackship before it went off with the injured, goes to stand next to his avatar buddy.

"Why the heck would you join him, he can take this guy by himself any day"
"Truly, the success chance of this mission actually goes down by 10.76% when you join general Miyamoto, why must you skew the parameters so?"

"But guys, this uwm asshole probably has cool loot"

"...loot is good"
"Agreed, we are in desperate need of a platform upgrade"

"Alrighty then, lead the way, Miya"

Follow Miyamoto
((To be completely honest, I'm kinda averse to possibly summoning Eldritch Horrors (with the potential of killing more people) for the small chance at getting Grate back. Then again, I'm also kinda curious at how this'll turn out, and I don't wanna be a spoil sport.))

"Whoa, Steve, you sure? Not that I don't trust your judgement, but if you're wrong about this it could be kinda disastrous. Still, if you think it's ok, I won't complain. Can't go after him myself anyway, being too big 'n all that.

Anyways, got any other job you need done right now?"

"Hey, if you guys wanna collect that poor kid's remains, go for it."

Observe possible revival of the Grate. Stand wel back, unless they can't lift the debris themselves, in which case lift it then stand back. (yes, meta, I know, but once quantum state tomfoolery come into play those concerns go out the window).

With a strange, mystic sort of solemness the remaining men at the ruins of the shipyard gather round the slab of concrete . They Lay their hands on it like pallbearers and wait for Stephen to walk around to the front and give the signal. They close their eyes and lift as Stephen watches.

[6]
Underneath the rock is a crushed, barely recognizable smear of a human body. And standing above it is grate, perfectly uninjured.

"Do you hear it?" The uninjured grate asks, looking up at the sky.

((OH DEAR.))

Lars looks about the infirmary.  He certainly couldn't help- it took him three tries to put on a band-aid once- so he just lets the children of Emar-i do their work.  He closes his eyes and begins to pray.

Pray to Hal'el for self.  Pray to Sa'las for Jim.  Pray to various other gods for all the others because damned if I can keep track of the injury list at this point.

(( Uh oh. ))

Away teams, the blackship is covered in blood and ready to extract you. Radio back when you're done and I'll come pick you up.

Do a more thorough check of the contents of the blackship, specifically interested in a more precise layout and looking for equipment lockers and suspension units while waiting for the away teams to finish.
Head out to pick up the remnants of the Amp team. Land well away from the Grate doppelganger.

Xan senses quantum shenanigans from where he is somehow.

Nope. Fuck that, I'm not sticking around for universal deletion.

Scuttle back to the Sword as whatever form I'm in right now.
Go ask the AM if going in Tinker would let me experiment with shapeshifting and such.

Don't trust it, whatever it is, get the fuck out the general vicinity, don't look at it, don't even perceive it.
There's no way the kid was alive under that stone. Whatever that is isn't him.

Pray to various other gods for all the others because damned if I can keep track of the injury list at this point.

(( Casualty list for amp engagement

Michael : Dead
Grate : Dead, mysteriously alive above the blood smear that is his corpse.
Jack : Temp Dead
Anton : Unconscious, rebar to the gut
Lars : Leg broken
Jim : Arms exploded

Other casualties for mission

Tack : Temp dead examining LESHO tube, Exploded by epic fail
Xan : Head severed taking blackship, turned into the thing
Stacy : Legs damaged taking blackship, repaired and sent back to the ship
Auron : Broken leg during control room takeover, fixed on ship

All in all, could have been worse. I'm still impressed that I didn't crash the blackship and lose all hands XD

He's... what? Is there any blood? Anything else under that rock? If so... I... I partially agree with Xan here. Check him out, make sure he's still... him. I'll head out to pick you up, but... verify that it's him before you put him aboard.

((Well, that isn't ominous at all.

Too bad we couldn't get the real Grate back, but at least that was a chance. Right now I would advise people to exercise extreme caution... insofar as IC knowledge allows. I know of at least two people who would, IC, be very susceptible to trusting this Grate, despite any and all reason. And a few who should have less inclination to feel less suspicious, Anton included - for all he knows, that rock could have missed Grate.))

Anton groggily looks over the medical supplies hooked up to, and into, him.

"...uuuugh. Somehow... not an improvement over electric sheep..."

Continue recovering. Try to reach the datapad and tap into the team's video feeds to see what all is going on elsewhere.

Quote from: Morul Migrurkeshin to Current Away Team
Look, I've scraped enough bodies off of hulls to know that that smear we found was human. Now, unless some random civilian ran towards the large group of heavily armed intruders, that was one of us. The only one missing in our group is Grate. Whatever is standing there is not Grate. I reccomend shooting it in the chest, and taking the corpse, if there is one, back to the sword for analysis. If it is Grate, we have the brain. If not, it's dead.
