All right, is Migrurkeshin awake again? Because he could be helpful here if he still has that funky vision.

Commence a more detailed investigation of the two iron-swimming ones: Any residual iron left in joints, freezing up movements? Between things that are supposed to be able to be separated, welding them together? Around anything fragile, such as eyes, microphones, tactile arrays, radio antennae, or other sensors or devices?

In other words, try to do a full diagnostic, with their assistance when needed. And do try to find a release for Miyamoto so he can get out and get to medbay.

((Okay, I leave for a competition tomorrow, and it lasts through Sunday, so Zako has permission to post actions for me if needed. It hopefully won't, but I might get waylaid in my ability to participate.))

undergo repairs  :)

"Right. 3 people go, you lot decide who. Bring back everything you can, even scrap. I'll have to stay here to fix up our robotic residents. Don't wreck the tools and don't die. Have fun and notify me when you get back with a load of salvage."

Inspect the damage to our robotic overlords and have them run a few diagnostics for me to tell me what's wrong.
Anton returns to the Garage, dragging Flint along, and observes Lukas and Gilgamesh being deposited into the repair area as Bishop prepares to run diagnostics. He leaves Flint to his own devices and joins the inspection committee of the Robot Overlords.

"Hey, Bishop. Potato?" Anton tosses a frozen potato to Bishop. "A mild case of brain-melt in the freezer. If this is what HMRC does to people, I'll be glad to get this over with as soon as possible, one way or another." He turns his attention back at the robots, circling Gilgamesh to take a look at the damage. "So, what are we looking at, besides a pair of tin soldiers someone hit with a blowtorch? Our stocks of giant robot parts don't look too good, so I have a feeling we'll have to improvise a lot of this stuff. I have a possible donor in mind..." Anton looks back at the corner of the Garage where Flint left the exosuit "..but it's kind of a last resort option." Noticing Simus scrutinizing Gilgamesh's surface, he adds. "But I do believe XO has the right idea. Let's make sure Miyamoto can get out of there first."

Aid Simus and Bishop in examining the damage to the robots and finding an external release mechanism to open up Gilgamesh so that our glorious Leader can get out. Mentally compare the damaged parts to those of Flint's exosuit and available spares, see if we have enough parts at all to actually perform proper repairs on either machine.

[simus:5]
[bishop:1+1]
[anton:4]
Simus and anton get to work on the grand robo-overlords while bishop stares blankly at the wall. Anton works on Miyamoto while Simus works on Lukas; scampering all over them and using torches to burn off the hardened iron. It's pretty easy really; since both robots are insulated to the point that they can just jam the torches into joints and then drain the molten metal. Once they've been cleared of slag, the repair crew moves on to cutting away the damaged sections. Lukas is easy enough; his armor is an unsophisticated, brutish thing, massively thick and heavy. Once Simus slices the damaged sections away, lukas is back to full mobility, if not fully protected. Miyamoto's battlesuit plate is a bit more difficult. The fibers in the plate give Anton some trouble and he ends up having to cut away more then he might have had to otherwise, practically stripping the right arm down to it's mechanics. The Rocket pod comes easier; it's catch is melted but it's easily severed from the main body.

Both robot is now functional, in terms of being able to move around, but armor still needs replacement and there are several mechanical parts that aren't in the best shape. Like that shard of iron through Miyamoto's 4th upper arm servo.

((It feels a like this thread entered in some sort of lethargy state. I hope my initiative will liven the place up.

Also, what's Doctor Strangleglove?))

"So Bishop, are you going with us? You're probably the one most interested inscavenging that shuttle. If no, we'll be going then."

Unless Zephyris, Lars, or Jack have any objections, I think we'll get going to the crushed shuttle. And yeah, I know that the MPV probably can't take four people, some of us will have to take turns walking.
To my teammates: if you're not going to say anything, but come back online later, I suppose it would be fairly simple to retcon and place you back in base.

Also, if Lars/Jack also wants to take a motorbike to go with the MPV, that would be pretty cool. I like having escorts.

EDIT: Say no to Michael. Also, I know that I'm planning on taking four people while Bishop only said to take three. Continue with my action regardless.

Jack rolls out of the bed of the MPV's trailer and wanders off somewhere. You shrug, mount up and drive all the way out to the downed shuttle with your crack team of scavengers and hooligans.

walk back to the infirmary and slap morul until i have his attention. Inform him that we are on mission in a mystical funland revolving around death and dismemberement and that i his drug addicted doctor replaced his eyeballs competantly so he should return the favor by helping me carry food and medical supplies to the shuttles so that we can flee from the giant crystal monster that amputated flints legs and is busy altering the landscape

((Hey piecewise you missed my turn :( ))
Spoiler: missed action (click to show/hide)
Thats Ok, because I would basically say that your Doopleganger idea there isn't able to be worked on from where you are. For a few reasons.

You go to the infirmary and slap Morul around until you have his attention and then proceed to give him a rather rushed and only somewhat accurate summary of whats gone during the time he's lost.

Check and maintain the shuttle, then head to the medbay to see if anybody's dying in there.  If not, time for a nap!  Inside the shuttle, of course.
The shuttle is fine, refueling as we speak, and the medbay is empty of the dead and dying. You wave your hand and bark "Bah, shoo!" at Morul and Micheal before curling up on a bed  and passing out.

"My work here is done. Time to check up on my pet goo."

((Warning! Warning! Long action incoming!
@Piecewise: If it's too much just do as much as you want/as much as possible and I'll post the rest in next turn.))

Check if the lab has a vacuum glove box.

If there isn't one, create one by taking a transparent airtight sample container, drilling holes for the gloves and a valve, attaching the gloves and valve and isolating them with some adhesive (silicon works although I'm guessing we have some high tech stuff here to fix suit holes), then creating a simple vacuum pump and attaching it to the valve.

Ask Simus and everybody else if they have any ideas for any other tests besides the ones I'm conducting.
Take the goo sample from the fridge.
Put the goo sample in the vacuum glove box along with a few sample containers and a few microscope slides. Also add an atmospheric and temperature sensor like the ones we have in our suits or better if possible, if the vacuum glove box doesn't have one already installed. Also put any materials required for the experiments Simus or anybody else want me to perform inside.
Pump the air out.
Careful open the goo box while sampling the air that comes out. Check the air's temperature and components and compare them to the state of the lake before it was disturbed. See if the cold of the fridge had any effect on the speed of whatever process is happening there.
Split the goo into multiple containers. Close one container and keep it to the side and make sure I do not touch it or otherwise mess with it so that I have an "as pure as possible" sample.
Put a miniscule amount of goo in a few microscope slides.
If possible, pump the air into a suitable container. If no containers or other devices capable of receiving and storing air are available, just put the hose out of the base with the help of ALVIN and pump the air out. If that's not possible, find or create a second vacuum pump and attach it with a valve to an airtight container. Empty the air out of the container and then transfer the air from the vacuum glove box to the airtight container. Drill holes and connect with hoses as common sense dictates, because I don't want to start drawing diagrams or make this action any more complicated.
Perform any tests Simus and anybody else has given me.
Empty the air (if any) from those experiments to separate containers if possible, or at least take samples from them.
Label all sample containers appropriately.
Once the vacuum glove box is as empty of air as possible and all containers inside it are sealed, pump air from the outside to it.
Label all samples appropriately.
Take the goo samples back to the fridge.
Look at one of the goo slides in the microscope. Record results.
Announce results of testing to team.

Geez. Welp.

Yes
Consider it done but I can't reply for them so hope they respond.
You run through everything until the part about splitting it. It's producing the same sort of atmosphere that was around the lake in the first place. It seems to be producing it continuously. It's temperature is consistent with the temp in the box. Now, about splitting that; how do you want to do that exactly. What do you want to use, what way do you want to do that, what containers, if any, do you want to put the split parts in? Remember it's a syrup more then a goo.

Return to sensors.

You return to the sensors and watch the crystal's slow advance.

'Huh? What the hell? Where am I? What the fuck is up with my vision?"

Explore new area. Try and find my goggles.

I dunno if you still wanna do that, what with the new info Michael has given you. Do you?

((Toaster: yes, unless you want to retcon it. You were wandering without anything to do, so I invited you along on a trip, and Piecewise rolled with it.

Not sure if Tavik actually read my post. Sent him a pm to make sure.))

Clean the crystals off the ground immediately next to the shuttle and to the MPV.
Offload the food we brought and put it in organized piles.

Take the food and other supplies out of the shuttle. Count. Put them alongside the supplies we brought.
What personal supplies does the shuttle have? Look through them.
What other stuff can we scavenge?

Can the half-shuttle be plausibly carried/dragged by an MPV?

"Does anyone have any technical expertise in this area? I think the original plan was also to scavenge the electronics and what other stuff the shuttle has, but Bishop isn't going, and I think Jack left." (Unless he changes his mind.)

grab a sample container about 6 feet long and 3 feet high from storage and tie it to a rocket bike using spare cables lying around the garage.

once complete drive off towards sector 2 staying as close to the ground as possible and ponder the difficulties in creating a remote controlled robot out of medical prosthetic's.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

Simus, finished with Lukas for now, heads to Miyamoto and Gilgamesh to see how their repairs have gone.

Anton, it might be easier to just slice that arm, because the servo is likely ruined and Miyamoto's arm is pinned in there, discounting any other injuries. Even if we manage to get the shard out without additional damage to the machine or the man inside, the arm will be all but useless without a replacement, which I don't know if we have.

Bishop shakes his head out of the daydream he was in and turns to Simus.

"We may have to build replacement parts for the servos by hand. What I don't think we can really replace is the armour and the rocket pod. We would probably be better off just disconnecting both pods for the sake of balance for the suit. We'll have to see what we can do."

Help with the repairs and get Miyamoto out of that suit and into the medbay.

"That's a negative, XO. You may be desensitized to limb loss, but there's a difference with a big machine like this. If we keep the arm, even if it remains locked in place, the pilot won't have to compensate for the missing weight when moving. Of course, most of the weight is gone already, but we can replace the plating. Got enough iron here for a tank battalion. And if it really comes down to it -" Anton motions over to Flint's exosuit on the other side of the Garage "-we have a semi-willing donor of robot parts. Now. You see about getting our glorious Leader out of this toaster, and I'm going to go check on Lukas. If we're to safely remove this piece, we're going to need a really strong hand."

Examine Lukas for damage, help him get his bearings if needed (including literal ones), and get his help to remove the metal shard in Gilgamesh's shoulder. Try to limit further damage to the servo, and start looking for possible repair options once it's done.

Didn't know we had donor parts if needed, though some modification will probably be needed to make it fit and work properly. As for balance, this is military hardware. If it can't take loss of an arm and remain usable, I am very sorely disappointed in whoever designed it, because that would be a crippling disadvantage on a battlefield. As for getting Miyamoto out, as far as I can tell, he's on his own. I don't think there's any way of getting him out other than a good bit of disassembly if he has no controls. Once again, military hardware, if there were an easy way of opening this thing up from the outside, that's another battlefield vulnerability. And that shard needs to come out first anyways, it's through his arm, not just the suit's arm.

As for my desensitizing to loss of limb, do know that about 7 traumic amputations or cripplings mean that I am not quite as desensitized as another might be in a body like this.

(( As for evacuating, it might be a good precaution but I don't think it's strictly nessesary. I don't think the canyon the crystal is following intersects the base or gravity seep, but it does come rather close. Temporary evacuation at least, but there's far too many valuable assets we would leave behind for a permanent one.))

When multiple people work together on something technical, I usually take the average of the three rolls, which in this case was 3.6 rounded to 4. Hence why Miyamoto's repairs weren't optimal. So there's always a chance for failure, it's just that lots of people working together have a "buffering" affect, pushing the overall number toward 3's and 4's.

"Hm? I thought you were an HMRC regular, what with the, well, loadout of yours. Loss of limbs seems to be an occupational hazard around here." Anton flexes his new robotic hands. "As for military hardware... it goes both ways, really. Imagine a battlesuit suffering a malfunction, or losing power, or being hit in just the right spot to kill the pilot - if you're a military, you a running on a budget, and you won't want extra repair costs after prying this thing open and putting it back together. Even if you don't care about the life of the pilot, you're going to have a way to open the machine up safely, even if just to repair it. Not anything stupid like explosive bolts, but there are probably a few heavy-duty locking mechanisms we can reach from the outside to open the hatch.

And how are you planning to cut away the arm here if Miyamoto's arm is pinned there, as you say? We gotta get him out first, one way or another.
"

((Of course no permanent evacuation, but strictly as a precaution against the crystal suddenly deciding it doesn't like the speedbump on the stone plateau. Get as many supplies as is feasible to carry off with us, and blackout the base so that it doesn't attract the crystal in any way.))

Came in with three limbs already having been replaced, not to mention quite a few requisite non-limb replacements, busted my thankfully cybernetic legs after falling a few hundred meters in my first mission, and then Jim accidentally vaporized half of me.

I'd say it would make more sense to make field-stripping easy than to provide any outside control, myself. And the fact that Miyamoto's arm is pierced would be a good reason to cut the suit's limb away, cutting around it so we don't cut his arm, though. That way, we could remove the arm in sections, potentially salvaging a good bit of it, and better be able to get the shard out than pulling it direct and risking further damage or injury.
