As XO, permission granted, Morul. Anton, would you mind being his escort for a few more moments?
"No problem, XO. But these few more moments better not be our last ones, or I shall personally haunt you."

Escort Morul to a suitable spot to examine the crystal from, but make note of any nearby ditches or rock outcroppings that could be used for cover in case something blows up.

Good, I'll have some company in the afterlife. If what we're doing goes wrong that badly, me, Lukas, and Miyamoto are probably already dead.

Head to the medbay, see what's wrong with the patient and get ready to operate.
Whats wrong seems to be that he has no legs. And you're fairly certain most people have legs. Med school is kinda a blur. Oh well, one pair of robo-legs it is.

((Well, unless Pyro wants to do anything urgent with the ample first, i think this is it. The moment where we all die horribly oh the humanity we find out how that thing likes a taste of his own medicine.))

Help stabilize Lukas; then fly him away a bit once he took his shot.
You get behind lukas and get ready to fly him out of harms way once he fires. Assuming he fires. And assuming you have the fuel to get all the way away. Heavy son of a bitch.

"Yes, Glorious Leader!."

Lars switches to open coms.

"O Algis, may your shielding hands cover our team as they prepare to wreak vengeance upon this crystal monstrosity!  O Ingram, may you guide the shot of our giant deathbot!  Pathmas, may we ever be generically and non-specifically in your favor!  Steve, you're awesome!"

Something trans-dimensional pings into his head.

"Also watch out over those of the HMRC that are not currently in this mission!"

Duck and cover.  Pray.
This seems to be a common habit. Oh well, ducking for cover is a lot like kneeling to pray.

Battle priest, bless thyself.

"Yes sir."

Find cover.
Your cover is that of some poor schmuck trapped on an alien death world. Try not to blow it by revealing yourself to be totally deserving of this fate.

"Wait. Guys before you fire, could I be allowed to examine the crystal? My special point of view may help us figure out its weakpoint."

If permission is given, go weirdvision the crystal. If not, help Anton with shuttle repair, by pointing out where I hit.

((This could be the end for me.))

Morul steps outside and closes his eyes; opening his mind to a level of information completely beyond anything he could comprehend. But before the shadows could swarm in; before they held his eyes open and he collapsed, screaming in pain, he managed to yell two things.

"DON'T LET HER TOUCH IT! IT'S NOT ENOUGH POWER!"

((Two weeks for five people, that's ten weeks for one, that's about 1/75th of what we have, counting the nutrient packs as food.
More, if we already spent several months here, but not by that much. Assuming a starving ration of about 25% regular intake, the two of us would survive for five more months if the base got blown up. Not ideal.))

Quote from: From Bishop
Alright. I'm going to be busy fixing this shuttle, so you'll have to get the fuel yourself. Take two others with you to speed things up and make things easier for you. Make sure to make a list and tell me what you find.
Quote from: From Vich to Bishop
I believe we've had a slight miscomunication. When I said shuttle, I meant the one you meant to scavenge for supplies, not the one broken right now.

I thought that's where you were heading, so you'd grab the fuel on the way there. That's moot then.

"I agree on scattering our supplies, but on the other hand I'm not sure it is such a great idea having our food just laying around here."
"Maybe not, but the alternative is having to be wholle dependent on the base kitchen surviving. Luckily, nothing seems to be happening in quiet spots like these, for the most part at least.

Let's offload this here, and then get back to base before the creature comes even closer. Then we'll get... let's say about a fifth of the total food left. And then call it quits. Camp out where the previous shuttle fell.  We won't have the comfort of out beds, but that's in line with most of my life experiences. Might be harsher for you, you're so young. And then we can even explore the other zones further from there. Maybe I should get also someone to join us. Three people might be better for sustained living and exploration.

And if Bishop ever comes back to scavenge that shuttle the MPV will be already there. One good thing about not having any weaponry is that no one is right now concerned about where I am.

And if you've got any problems, state them soon. I won't force you to live with me."

Offload the food and pedal back to base. Power the MPV back up, and begin loading about a fifth of our remaining supplies.
Seems too late. Well, let's just read another page of HMRCP then.
"Cog-azaon: God of Knowledge.  Also known as Cog-azaon the wise, Cog-azaon of secrets and Cog-azaon the whisperer."

The picture on the opposing page shows a god depicted as a “ball and stick” representation of a Buckminsterfullerene molecule with a brilliant glowing corona in the shape of the “Mandelbrot Set” fractal. The symbol beneath it is a hexagon.

"Cog-azaon knows all things that are or shall be, save for the machinations of Pathmas, which no being is privy to. Cog-azaon Was birthed of Pathmas and so he gave life to Hal-mon, God of Machines and father of the Engineer's pantheon. Prayers to him are always requests for information and his symbol may be placed upon what the worshiper wishes to understand, or upon the forehead of the worshiper to grant him greater knowledge as a whole.

Prayers to Cog-azaon are considered safe however being marked with his symbol is a different story. Those marked with his symbol are said to gifted with increased knowledge and intuition but is slowly driven mad by the constant whispering of information the god is said to enact on those with his mark."

observe fully constructed robo body, hope im not the one thats gonna get jammed inside it.

Gather an additional 2 robolegs and head back to flint, hand them off to mesk and watch him perform the surgery.
If he does not perform surgery this turn then just pester him for tips then go check the robo body for internal equipment like radios and cameras.
Also check out the braincase, how does it connect to the brain?

You hand mesk the limbs and prepare to help him with the surgery, if he should need it. As per the robo-body, the standard one is basically the same as a MK I in capacities; radio, scattered cameras over the body, like on the head, chest and even one on a finger tip. The brain case, however, is hermetically sealed and opening it would ruin the sterile environment inside.

As XO, permission granted, Morul. Anton, would you mind being his escort for a few more moments?

Get back there (somewhat away from Lukas and Miyamoto, and not between the behemoth and the base) and take aim at Morul's designated weak spot if he gives one, a major joint (preferably not just a laser arm) if he does not. Be prepared to fly off the moment the grenade hits.
You take position and take aim.
Continue fixing the shuttle and run a diagnostic or two every once in awhile to check what's working and what's not.
[aux:3+1+1]
You get the rest of the damaged systems repaired. All thats left is replating the damaged areas.

"Okay, I see a bunch of pock-marked white domes, or something like that. Commencing rock-throwing."

Commence rock-throwing, advance cautiously only if safe. Be sure to hit the domes with rocks to make sure it's safe before entering.
You enter the area, hucking rocks as you go. Nothing happens, even when you crack one of the domes with a rock. The domes themselves are massive, stadium sized things, and judging by the way the stone is around them, they continue underground. You wonder, idly, if they're hollow or solid.

To Miyamoto:"Umm er the hell do I do now?"
Do what miyamoto says, if no response observe the crystal from the edge of the lakebed
COVER COVER COVER OHGOD COVER.

Lucas' plants his feet and the anchoring systems fold out, foot long pneumatic bolts piercing the stone and locking him in place. His chest folds open and the cannon housing begins to expand and snap into position, his entire body transforming to handle the forces about to be put on it. Generators hum to life; capacitors buzz, electrical lines crackle and magnetic fields form. Sections of the cannon begin to rotate and visibly build up power as Lucas calls off the percentages.

"60....75....80...96...98...100%! Ready to fire! Give the word!"

His voice is distorted and tinny; every non-essential circuit in his body working off what energy it can spare.

Assemble the requisite materials for the leg replacement while showing Auron what to do.  Keep charging that sweet, sweet dynamic bonus.

Sleep a bit while waiting for surgery. Maybe have a moment of satori regarding the crystal or this planet in my sleep. Or maybe just a prophetic dream. Or Simus in a suggestive pose, that's fine too.

((I'm starting to feel bad for poor Lukas. Has he ever been given a chance to use that particle gun?))

achieve dynamic bonus by watching mesk perform surgery, if successful attach flints second roboleg.
If unsuccessful or mesk amputates the entire leg due to overshots, sterilize my suits gloves and open a braincase outside in complete vacuum to maintain its internal sterility.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

Replate the damaged areas on the outside, then check the fuel lines, controlling mechanisms and electronics and the engines for any missed bits of damage. Run a few diagnostics too, just to make sure it's all working fine.

"Well, it looks like we have white domes here that may go underground. I'll pass on exploration until I've finished mapping, though."

Iron Miyamoto, the tech who could not die.
((If a person wearing a suit of armor that's taller than an MBT is long is in legitimate fear for his life from something happening, I believe it is time for all people wearing MkIs to get off-planetoid.))

Quote
Morul steps outside and closes his eyes; opening his mind to a level of information completely beyond anything he could comprehend. But before the shadows could swarm in; before they held his eyes open and he collapsed, screaming in pain, he managed to yell two things.

"DON'T LET HER TOUCH IT! IT'S NOT ENOUGH POWER!"
"Her? Her who? Not enough? Okay, nevermind, we're out of here."

De-ass the area with the quickness, seeking any location with no direct line of sight to the crystal and as much rock as possible between it and us. If Morul is in no condition to move himself, check if I can lift and carry him in the current conditions. If I can't, just drag him.

Miyamoto, Lukas, hold fire. Anton, what's going on with him?

Hold fire for now.
"Either someone's blasting Macarena over his suit's comms, or he's down with a severe case of scream-inducing migraine. We're vacating the premises. Last things he screamed, if it means anything to you, were "Don't let her touch it" and "It's not enough power". If I were to guess, whatever he saw did not fill him with confidence in your plan's success." Anton pauses, thinking for a moment. "If you would like my opinion, I would concur - if the crystal can convert energy into lasers, then you're about to toss a barrel of oil into a hive of flaming bees. Could be worth rethinking, XO."

Let Lukas fire if he can't hold it, then fly us away asap.

'shit, I don't think he can hold on like this much longer.
Lukas, try to hold, or just shoot into space if you can. Craaaap, i hate that thing.

Everybody except Lukas and Simus should get back to basd and start moving our supplies to the ai core or outside the base. If morul is right there is nothing we have now to damage it.
