Keep navigating our way out of the anomalous zone. Once we are safely out, go back to camp and rest if it's really necessary, if not just take a break and then continue mapping the edge of the visual anomaly (as in, the area where anomalous things start to happen, not blundering through them or anything.)

((I find it intriguing that our camera feeds showed blinding whiteness too. That must mean it isn't merely our eyes/brains deceiving us, or that it affects our camera's somehow.))

It seems our base is surrounded by anomalies on almost all sides. It makes me wonder how the people who built this base managed not to land on something nasty. But if we're lucky, maybe hex 4 or 5 will be more normal.

((They didn't "not land on something nasty". The crater - that sits more or less right outside the walls - is only a safe zone because it's a known quantity - i.e. we know that going near it is certain death, so we don't. We do have a surprising amount of clear space around the base, but I'm willing to chalk that up to pure luck.))

((I concur. That guy should get a medal, or a secretary job or something. I had started keeping some notes of my own in the beginning of the mission, but quickly stopped doing that once Paris posted his. They're much more thorough.))

((Thanks a lot everybody. You're making me blush. Your kind words encourage me to improve.))

((@SeriousConcentrate: I'm watching your mission intently. It's perfect, and it's got the perfect team for it. It's going to teach us a lot about the past, show us a glimpse of how an ubermind thinks and allow us to practice psychology on a borderline alien mind. I already have a theory on what's wrong with the ship (not sharing though because a.I could be wrong and lead you astray and b. I could be right and spoil it for you).))

Upon seeing the damage to the med bay and the radiation lockout warnings Auron sighed and turned to rejoin the others.

sorry guys but there will be no drugs today

rejoin team green and assist with the mapping.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

"I agree with Flint. Let's return to the base for now."
Zephyris also didn't like the aspect of camping out here sorrounded by anomalies but that'd be inevitable sooner or later.

If Bishop agrees, return to base and go to sleep.
If he does not, complain a bit and follow his orders.

"There's no point to staying here and having a shitty time sleeping on rocks. We're just going to head back the way we came anyway. Let's head back to base and rest there, then head out and map the other end of the weird shit we found when we're back in form."

Back to base and take a load off. Come up with a design for a handheld, extendable grabbing device that we could use to grab samples without touching them. Something simple and easy that I can make out of the garage supplies.

((Huh. I am absent for two days, the GM is absent for a turn. Interesting. Just my luck. Unless he's waiting for me (I don't think so) in which case I am terribly sorry.))

Seeing as how everybody in his group already voiced an opinion, Vich decided not to piss against the wind this time.

"Sure. Let's go back."

Go back to base with others and sleep.

Flint Westwood - Blue Squad - Sector 3

@Anton:"My mining exosuit has some extra layers of protection. If anyone want to use it, I'm leaving it in the garage once I return. Oh and try not to touch these things. Putting them in a sample container and storing them in the vault is probably the best choice." ((Although Miyamoto or Lukas are probably the best candidates for the job.))

@Bishop:"Blue leader, we've been walking for 10 hours, we're tired and the base needs help with the repairs. Can we go home now and continue tomorrow?"

((Next time, we should take some mattresses with us or something.))

Unless Bishop orders otherwise, return to base, leave my exosuit in the garage and plug my laser in the generator. Then check for ways for us to sleep (somewhat) comfortably on the field. Finally, eat something and go to sleep.

Team Blue finally departs from the shore of distortion and staggers home, exhausted, hungry and sore. They deposit their gear in the garage, wandering past the base crew and barely paying any mind to the hole in the Infirmary umbilical. Together they drag themselves to the kitchen, fill their stomachs with whatever they can easily scrape together and then collapse into bed. Their dreams are haunted by strange feelings of being trapped, immobile, in thin air.

Team Verde

Upon seeing the damage to the med bay and the radiation lockout warnings Auron sighed and turned to rejoin the others.

sorry guys but there will be no drugs today

rejoin team green and assist with the mapping.
"Bugger."

Stare at the anomaly some more.
"Gentlemen, we will rest here until"- here Lars grunted a bit- "Auron gets back.  Then we move out."

Eat breakfast, and give a quick sermon while we wait.  When Auron gets back, head to Hex 5, aiming for the corner hex at the borders of 6 and Base.

wake up. then get something to eat.

Team Irradiated, still feeling mildly ill, rises to Lars standing above them in his best heroic pose, belting out a sermon at no one in particular. He continues to preach straight through their breakfast and as they wait for their AWOL companion to join back up with them. He only stops once the team is assembled and he has personally blessed each and every one of them in the name of a half dozen gods they don't recognize.

"He would preach to a stone, given the opportunity."

"He was, for a while there."

"TO ZONE 5! IN THE NAME OF STEVE, ALVIN, AND WHATEVER OTHER GODS FEEL LIKE COMING!"

The team trudges off with Lars marching in front, ecstatic as usual. They enter the fifth zone via the northwestern corner and wander a little ways in. They don't have to go far before they come across something odd. The area here seems volcanic in nature: there are what appear to be heat vents or cracks leading down to molten stone maybe 20 feet below the surface, and an atmosphere or at least a haze of sulfurous gasses hangs over the place. There are great lakes of molten metal and even in the suits it's uncomfortably warm.

Team 赤

Miyamoto decides to give in to the needs of the non-power suited plebeians and walk back to the base for a bite to eat and a warm bunk. The anomaly will be there tomorrow. Probably.

Team "Base" in some other language.

((Whoohoo, artifacts! Deadly, deadly artifacts! :D))

Anton eyes the little ovoids on the ground suspiciously, and decides that he'll need some help with this. He keeps his distance from them, but does his best not to let them out of his sight as he activates the suit's comms.

"Anton Chernozorov to XO Simus. I'm outside the base, examining the damage to infirmary corridor. There are several... artifacts, for lack of a better word, on the ground here, likely remnants of the anomaly. Radiation levels too high to safely approach in my suit. Would sure be nice if some of you better protected people got over here and moved them so we can start patching up that hole."

Request assistance. Monitor the artifacts for strange behavior. Once/if radioactive elements moved out of the way, approach the damaged area. Examine it and consider repair options.

((
Spoiler: Map Update (click to show/hide)
))

You keep an eye on the objects. They're strange looking things, almost like glass beads; they're a milky blue color, semi-transparent and seemingly mundane. They're not leaking blue light or arcing with electricity or hovering around. They're just sort of sitting there.

"Maybe some sort of residue from the actual anomaly? Something like trinitite? Eh, can't know without examining them and would prefer not to shove my face into them yet."

"Ok, looks like the infirmary is gonna have to be sealed up and decontaminated, so unless everybody feels like being smart and not getting hurt for the rest of the year (not gonna happen), I guess I gotta go fix it.  I'm headed out, Simus."
Grab a toolkit and head outside to survey the damage to the infirmary from the outside.

You walk out and join Anton in staring at the big old hole in the hallway.

"could probably just seal it. You know, two metal plates and some insulation between em?"

"Yep."

"Not gonna do it while that shit is still over there. I like not being sterile. And alive."

"Nope."

You both stand in awkward silence for the next 10 straight minutes.
