Feyri Nirel ; Team C Mercenary, Block C, behind Miyamoto.

Feyri looked on at the sight of the charred bodies with melancholy. This is not what she expected.

"Does anyone have any pertinent information regarding this? I would say they used flamethrowers in 'keeping the people in check', or a freak fire incident happened, but this seems too much for a static fire outbreak. Incendiary fumigation, maybe?

"Whatever happened, ensure that your suits are closed at all times because I really wish we brought a sampling device."

Announce our peaceful intentions.

Feyri turned up the volume of her speakers.

"Anyone in range, we're the rescue team. We know of the colony's plight, and we've come to your aid. We mean no harm , but are ready to deliver such if we encounter hostility. Any and all clemency will be given to those who surrender peacefully and without a fight. We've been prepared to handle any situation - from fire to cryogenic weaponry, but we are only armed for self-defense. People of Block C, heed our message! We are not your enemies! Speak with us, those who survive!"

All right, though I suggest you guys turn off your external mics for  moment, I'm going to have to make it loud. Anyone got the name of the colony? I know you asked that guy from the government sector, Feyri.

"I would answer 'You don't need to know that,' to your first question, because that is exactly what Command said regarding the name of this place, but I'm not like that so...I don't really know. We should've seen any signifying names or marks back at the hangar, but it seems they didn't even bother to mark it out. A "Welcome to [COLONYNAME]" would suffice...Second, his name is Drozden the Third, somehow he thought he told us this already."

Spoiler: Team C and D (click to show/hide)

((Truly diplomacy is nothing to be looked down upon. Of course, that is if we shun the ways of Bumbling, Greedy and Murderous Idiot. ...Well, pity. ))

((Mostly everyone in the HMRC is either bumbling, greedy or murderous by nature or by the HMRC's nurture. Because of this, competence is indeed a rare trait, and the main reason people idolize the AM and Milno. So peaceful diplomacy is definitely not the HMRC way. Diplomacy accompanied by grisly violence and loot-making opportunities, however, is.))

((I'm not saying diplomacy always necessarily fails, just that it is usually preceded (or, in some cases, followed) by massive amounts of violence, the prevention of which is the entire goal of diplomacy. A first battle before peace talks can be attempted, so to speak.

Also, I'm pretty sure we ran out of reasonable people when the last floor was cleared, so there's that. Although the Miners, if any are still alive, might be appealed to through regulations. Not so sure about the Doctors, though. Then again, the denizens of each floor maintain that the floor beneath theirs is the one that really went to hell, so you never know.))

((Uh, Drozden III is the name of the planetoid we're on. And the colony as well.

"Drozden III. Named after the planetoid we're built on. Most of us just call it Droz though."

And it definitely depends on how we approach the situation, of course. The Blueshirts were made docile through the promise of clemency. The Miners can possibly be made docile through appeals to regulations and authority, as I mentioned. However, we don't know a single concrete thing about the Doctors (Scientists?), so we have no idea if they are more mad science or practical science people.))

"Drozden III. Named after the planetoid we're built on. Most of us just call it Droz though."

The latter, I assume was answered by an apathetic Command. Who told me nothing important but that I'm too lowly to know the name. Hooray for yet another mistake I've made :/

Team A

"Everyone, on me. We stick together. No wandering off. We'll clear these houses one by one, moving as quickly as possible. Loot anything you want, but make it fast. Got it? Let's go." Jim said, going for the first house on the right.

Jim drags his entire comatose team to the first house on the right. It's door is completely open so they just walk on inside. The house looks to have been pretty badly looted, especially the kitchen: Every pantry door is flung open, the fridge  and freezer are empty, pots and pans and cutlery have been scattered around the room and it looks like someone has half eaten a bag of flour on the counter top. The home is relatively small and little is left in the few rooms it has, only a bare bed, ransacked dresser, turned over couch and oddly untouched table remain. There is no indication that anyone has been here in quite a while.

Team B

((Drozden III, but that's not IC knowledge. Don't think it ever got shared, so only Feyri knows.))
((I suppose anyone who was nearby also knows, McDude didn't whisper it.))

[Team B Leader=Milno]

"Stick to the sides, avoid being in the open. Don't die at least until we are closer to getting the job done." Milno said, moving to the sides.

Start to move slowly ahead from cover to cover, and if lacking cover, move crouched to the side of buildings, looking inside and around.

Blare at full volume: "People of Block B, we were sent to rescue any survivors from whatever happened in this colony. All of you will receive clemency for any crimes as long as you surrender peacefully. Answer to our call and do not attack, because we are authorized to return fire at any hostiles."

Spoiler: A-B Teams (click to show/hide)

Brother Lars spoke some quiet prayers over the radio while following Saint Milno.  "O Pathmas, may your will fall in our favor!  Steve, guide us with your gentle green light!"

He would have to study the book further to look for gods of diplomacy.

Follow and assist Milno.

((Lars doesn't know the HMRC well if he thinks there are gods of diplomacy.))

"You think they've got a trap up there?"
Heat vision, X-ray, then head on up. Carefully.

Milno's team moves up toward the bodies cautiously, blaring a message of peace while carefully sticking to the best bits of cover they can find. As they move toward the bodies they notice a banner hanging nearby. It must have hung across the street at one point, but was cut down from one side and now hangs limply from it's other mooring. In large, white block letters on a red background it reads "Safety for All". They reach the bodies without issue, carefully coming out of  cover to examine them, heads on a swivel despite the utter silence. The bodies are dressed in normal clothing, not a uniform or suit, thought many of them wear a bit of red cloth on their body somewhere, be it as a headband, arm band or even a whole shirt. Most are men, young by the look of it but the decay makes it harder to guess. They were shot, but not execution; it looks random, the ones in the front have a good deal more hits then the ones in back, and many of these wounds wouldn't be immediately fatal. They went down in an unfocused barrage.

Team C

Check around with heat-vision, then breach the first house block in the upper part of the block.

@Stacy:"Stacy, didn't you say you heard something on the radio, but the signal wasn't strong enough to make out the words, because it came from further down? Do you want to try again? Maybe we're in range now."

"Good thinking there! I did say that, didn't I?"

Check radio frequencies for anything interesting. You know, other than juicy teammate gossip. Follow Miyamoto while I do this.

"Looks like whoever these scientists were, they meant business. Place is burnt up good. Wonder if anyone's alive or if we got the easy wing again."

Name:Flint/Deeper Scum - Team C - C Block entrance

"Everything burnt, biohazard suits... Hmmm... Didn't McDude say that the Scientists were burning people in the housing blocks? Do you think that's what happened here? Do you think that 'Scientists' is the name of their gang or are they actually scientists? Because I can't imagine crowbar wielding scientists in biohazard suits looting homes and burning people alive. They usually use giant robots or abominations for that." Oh great, now I've begun to joke about corpses and death...

Start searching the closest houses for anything not burnt. If the exosuit is to big to enter houses, stand outside and keep watch for any sign of movement.

@Stacy:"Stacy, didn't you say you heard something on the radio, but the signal wasn't strong enough to make out the words, because it came from further down? Do you want to try again? Maybe we're in range now."

((Oh. Thank you so much for your attributing words. I feel very happy with how we're all labelled. Hah. Hah.

Stacy checks the radio while Feyri announces the peaceful intentions of the group and the rest of the team scans the area and then heads into the first house on the right. It's a multilevel thing, small homes stacked one on top of the other. The fire has gutted them all: the walls are charred black and the metal skeletons of furniture and appliances, warped by heat, lay scattered about, eerie afterimages of what used to be. There are a few bodies in the building, curled in corners or partially entombed in molten vinyl on what used to be cheap couches. Some look like they ran, others like they didn't have time. As the team tramps out of the house, dragging a cloud of ash behind them, Stacy waves  them over.

"Hey I think I found something." He says, carefully adjusting his radio. "It sounds like...music."

Team D

Team D - Lukas - still at the elevator

Lukas decides not to wait for orders any longer and carefully moves onto the street of the D block.
"Enough messing around! Let's do this!" Bishop stated, seeing how the team just hung around doing nothing with no instructions from the team leaders.

Breach and clear the area, scanning the place with my motion sensors for movement.

Lukas and Bishop, Men of action that they are, don't wait for Faith to awaken from her leadership induced stupor and proceed into the D block. The road and homes beyond the door have clearly seen better times, but are in remarkably good condition all things considered. Many doors are open and garbage and debris are piled high on the side of the road in some places, but there are no signs of violence or large scale looting, no smashed windows, no blood, no scattered debris spilled out of homes or doors barricaded. It's all strangely, almost unsettlingly, clean and silent.

Stacy, Team C Cookery Consultant, Block C.

"A soundtrack is a great thing to have while wandering around charred ruins, is it not?"

Keep listening while following the team. Look for any signs of where it might be coming from on the broadcast, such as a friendly DJ of some kind.

[Team B Leader=Milno]

Milno looked around for a moment before closing on the bodies to check on them.
"Eh, shit's too quiet."

Try to check where the shots have come from (direction and height) and analyze the caliber of the guns used, trying to discover if they were just civilian rifles. Pay attention to the buildings and landscape as well to see if there any cuts and indents that seem to indicate heavier weaponry and/or mining lasers.

Keep sweeping the northern part. Pick up/examine anything that looks interesting/useful. If the first block is sweeped, do the one behind that.

'You found something Stacy? Good work, try to find out what it is/who it comes from, and perhaps attempt to contact whoever is on the other side, if possible.

Rest of the squad, keep going.'

"In spy movies whenever the bad guy is broadcasting the good guy sometimes tries to triangulate the signal, whatever the hell that is. Any of you science guys know how to do that?"

Keep following the leader. See if the radio has some sort of signal power indicator. If so, use it with whoever else volunteers to try to triangulate the signal, to at least get a rough estimate of the direction it's coming from.

Team D - Lukas - Street beyond doors D block

Lukas briefly inspects his surroundings before turning to Bishop. "We'll, let's get to it. Maybe it is best if you explore the buildings while I explore the streets."

Explore streets but keep close to the rest of the team.
