Tear some flesh off the corpse, put it in a jar.

"We should leave while we can. All the clues indicate these citadels are the same, this is probably one of 100s. We got the corpse, let's go. I've had enough of this place.

...

May, what are you doing!? It's a corpse for Pete's sake, give it some respect!"

...Oh, thanks. Hmmm, back there? Unless you know a safe place, or are willing to carry her, I feel I have to advise against that.
Still, it is indeed a little safer with the team than otherwise.

Don't resist being helped; sit down just there (a little closer to the wall and further from the edge, if possible) and rest.

We haven't located the source of the sound yet, and it is very likely that's another tuning device. Grab that one and make a run for the shuttle, I'd say.

My own two cents, as little more than a talking deadweight at the moment, is that we head for extraction as soon as we can. Ya'll want that tuner, get it and let's get out of here.

"...I guess the doc already showed enough heroism." Milno says, convinced Maurice already showed enough action movie heroism to woo Simus and it is about time to prevent him from busting his legs.

Move down and take Simus from Maurice, carry her to the rest of the group.
You walk down the ramp and take Simus from Maurice, throwing her over your shoulder. You're not quite sure what to do with her now though.

"We still need to explore where the sand went, and figure out what this place does, if possible. Plus, I need time to read this, it might give us some important clues."

Begin reading journal.
The journal is long and meandering, often times nonsensical and seemingly nothing but a stream of consciousness, the writings of a man lost in darkness for far too long. But somewhere, hidden in the madness, you can see glimpses of information. You just need to pry them out.

[int:5]
It looks like he had been exploring this place a good deal, doing most of it without light even. He talks about being able to visualize everything based on sound, how sound is all important in this world. From there it becomes more and more disjointed, fragments and exclamations. He thinks that the tower and the citadel-a series of 5 buildings arrayed in a pentagon with  sixth central building- aren't structures for living in, or even structures at all, but enormous and complex sonic machines, their odd shapes and complex rooms designed to focus and manipulate sound in a specific way. The reason for these structures is to "Hold back the endless tide of the servitor creators" and that the sound "Holds back the creatures that would, unchecked breed endlessly and swallow the world; gorging on sound." He goes on to say that "The Fall is a remnant of the hordes withheld, marker of the unbelievable antiquity of their actions."

The rest is gibberish, just attempts to "read sound" and his desire to "Once more hear the beating heart of this city."

Tear some flesh off the corpse, put it in a jar.

"Science!"
"SCIENCE!"you scream as you rip a bit of the leathery flesh off and jam it in a jar.

"We should leave while we can. All the clues indicate these citadels are the same, this is probably one of 100s. We got the corpse, let's go. I've had enough of this place.

Travis attempts to stop May from desecrating the corpse
(Since you didn't say "Physically stop" I'll assume you don't want to try and grab her)

You give may a stern talking to about the sanctity of the dead while she happily tears bits of the body off.

...Oh, thanks. Hmmm, back there? Unless you know a safe place, or are willing to carry her, I feel I have to advise against that.
Still, it is indeed a little safer with the team than otherwise.

You sit down, resting your legs, and tap your helmet against the wall, trying to ignore the pain. Ow.

"Bizarre. According to this, he actually learned to navigate this place using sound. He also sounds like he went a bit nuts. He says the, uh, this tower is one of five arranged in a pentagram with a sixth in the middle, and its purpose is to... control sound to hold something back. 'Servitor creators?' 'Hold back the hordes' that would 'unchecked, breed endlessly' and 'swallow the world, gorging on sound?' He also claims this place is a 'remnant of the hordes withheld,' whatever that means. I guess he thinks the Fall has just built up around it and this used to be normal ground level?

Dunno how much of that's true and how much is him going a bit weird, but it gives us a starting point, at least. Still doesn't entirely explain why its channeling sand, though. Also I'm thinking Conrad will be interested in it, at least a little."

Pocket book, listen for any unusual sounds I can hear.

((I meant physically, but all is well. Knowing the dice, we would probably end up on top of each other on the corpse))

"You disgust me.

...

Hm, interesting Faith. However, it all sounds insane and honestly, if it is true, I don't want this team anywhere near the citadel less 'it' escapes this dimension because of our stupidity. We should just leave this all alone and head back.

Though, I suppose the way back isn't lit anymore, and unless the elevator was slack we got quite a bit of climbing to do...."

(Aw, damn. I kinda wish I had been on this mission now, because of the earworm awhile back. It might've had some residual effects on Jim that could have been interesting, based on what that journal's saying. :-\)

Milno, could you put me down? Please?

Faith, that's a good find, hand it here, I'll make a digital copy of it. That way, people back on the ship have a copy, and we get to return Conrad's eldest brother's journal to him.

Copy the book into my wristpad, if such is possible.

((Yes, Milno can hear me. I only severed inbound transmissions from him.))

Well, there's that continuously cycling tone that has been playing ever since the sand started to recede; that low and vibrating tone that seems to subtlety shake the whole building and reverberate in your teeth.  There's that.

You get faith to hold the book's pages open so that your suit's camera can see them, stopping a moment on each. There, that should serve as an adequate record if the actual book is lost.

"My suit should have recorded it all when I was reading it anyway, but yes, I'd like to return the original to Conrad if he's interested. I could also see using the camera to get it all, though that might be excessive; nothing in here looks like it's hard to read or anything like that.

Anyway, we can't just leave without actually figuring anything out about this place. The next step would probably be to follow the sand, unnerving as that might be. We'll probably get some advance warning before it flows back up or more sand pours in, though I do wish we had some kind of rover or scoutbot to do this for us."

((@GM: Are we on the central building?))

"There is a path down there, although I don't believe every able-bodied person should follow it. The sand may decide it is time to kill as quickly as the tone of this noise changes. Milno commented.

((I've been imagining we've been heading North this entire time, so I'm going to go with that for directions. Also, I think the creatures ate up TO the wall, and The Tower is the crumbling remains of the last citadel that stopped the first invasion. Travis doesn't know this though, so it's OOC. Also, I had an idea. What if the 'horde'...is the sand?))

"We could also kill the thing manipulating the sound", Travis said, pointing off toward the North, "Could get a tuning fork out of it, which in my opinion is the most valuable thing here. I don't think the docs are interested in crumbling stone tablets and sand.

However, I'll defer to you Milno"
