Well... That's one way to get rid of them... I guess...

I could probably have just detached them, like I can and have done with my arm... Oh well, they're gone, one way or another.

If Maurice can't lift me this time, Terminator crawl alongside him back to the group, counting on my reduced mass to reduce the strength required to do so.

[dex:3+1]
You race down the ramp and out onto the sand as the body drifts towards the door.
[dex:6+1]
You slide across the flowing sand and get hold of the body but are dragged out, through the doorway and into the darkness in the process.
((I'd like to note I'm still tied to Maurice's leash. >.>))

"I'm climbing back after getting the corpse without breaking anything in the process. I'd advise you to hold on to the rope just in case."

Shine lamps around the darkness then climb back through the rope if such is needed. If not, then just walk back, using the rope for guidance and support.

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.
>Yes?
"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

Try lifting Simus again, then, if successful, walk back to the Citadel. Otherwise make sure she doesn't try moving on her own (and see to it that I do not injure her in the process).
May have gotten carried away. Sorry.
Oh, and don't you try moving on your own, Simulacrus. It was a miracle you managed to get this far without injuring yourself or passing away. ...Just a moment please.

When I'm back on board... I'll do all the damned push-ups. Just, damn it, do it!

(yes, but Maurice isn't. I had him untie himself as he ordered a while ago.)
You shine your lamps around but still can't see anything. You roll to the side and get out of the flow of sand, walking back till you find the wall of the citadel. You give the rope a tug but it comes without resistance; maurice must have untied himself. Hmm. Well, you could just wait for the sand to stop flowing out the door way and then walk in. That would be easy.

Try lifting Simus again, then, if successful, walk back to the Citadel. Otherwise make sure she doesn't try moving on her own (and see to it that I do not injure her in the process).

[str:4]
You grab Simus and heft her onto your shoulder, grunting with effort as you turn and start walking back. She's lighter without the robo-limbs but still, you're no Hercules and your legs are still killing you.
[end:3]
You can feel the wounds start to reopen slightly, a thin trickle of warm blood running down your legs. Yep. You came to her rescue and then carried her back to safety despite your own injuries. If there's anything action movies have taught you, it's that this is guaranteed to get you into her pants.

Hmmm, wonder how far the prosthetics go up?

Milno sighed. His mind was piecing together what could be a mad theory about how the sand flow worked there, but there were few ways of discovering if he was right, and most of them either involved material he didn't have or suicidal experimentation. The corpse near him made him wonder if it had been trapped around a corner for a long time or if there was another meaning to it.

As soon as the sand flow becomes weak enough to allow easier movement, get back to the group, no need to wait until it dies out completely.

You lean against the wall and wait until the sand is down to a more reasonable level before slogging back into the building, corpse on your shoulder.

"Yeah, no need to help guys, just being a human anchor and doing your job for you. Totally fine."

The sand has now totally drained from the building and the ground level is uncovered.

Pfft. Movies. Pants. Guess the fatigue is finally getting to me.    ...Labcoats, eh? Hm.
Well, team, here we are. Sorry for abandoning the rope.
I guess I'll use the entrance now that it is accessible. Oh, and a couple more things: thankfully, Simulacrus doesn't require immediate extraction, though she needs rest, a lot of it. I guess there is no need to try getting back to the elevator and beyond for now, with the team so close to the final goal, so we'll just set the camp (for now) on top of this Citadel in case the sand returns.

Get Simus to the top of the Citadel 1, lay her to the ground there. Then settle for a nap nearby.

"Here is the corpse." Milno said, dropping the corpse on the ground after moving closer to the room that led to a walkway.

Examine the corpse.

"Oh, poor fellow." Charro peered at the sandy corpse for a while. "At least, you know, with that sort of chafing, I think death would have been more of a mercy than anything." He respectfully tugged his brimless tophat from his head and held it to his chest.
>Remove hat out of respect. Look at corpse. Glance around for stick to poke it with.

Thanks for the pickup, Doc, but you'll want to be looking after your own legs right now, looked like they started bleeding again. Don't want you having to go prosthetic in a similar route to how I did, 'cept with lots and lots of cuts instead of fire. Don't worry about me trying to explore, I'd only try moving if the other option was being away from the group, where, honestly, I'm the safest.

Sit around wherever I got set down. Being mostly useless.

Your legs are on fire by the time you reach the Citadel, Simus held on your shoulder with your one good arm. However, not satisfied with carrying a wounded teammate hundreds of meters on mangled legs, you begin to walk up the very long ramp to the top of the citadel. You're not really sure why, since the top of the citadel is a high place and high places have bad connotations for Simus, but whatever!

"Here is the corpse." Milno said, dropping the corpse on the ground after moving closer to the room that led to a walkway.

Examine the corpse.
You walk up the ramp to just outside the walkway room and dump the corpse on the ground so you can take a closer look at it. It's covered in some very thick, very warm looking clothing and wearing a backpack. It's pretty badly broken up, limbs twisted at obviously wrong angles, head partially crushed in and body accordianed. Fell from quite a way up obviously.

You remove your hat and proceed to look around for a stick. You can't really find anything that fits the bill.

"DAMN YOU ALIEN UNIVERSE AND YOUR LACK OF QUALITY CORPSE POKING STICKS!"

"Let's be quick if we can. We don't know when the sand will return, or how quickly."

Examine contents of corpse's backpack.
You strip the backpack off the corpse and start digging through it.

Emergency oxygen tank, climbing gear, rations, lanterns, rope light, glowsticks, Oh whats this? It looks like a book or journal of some sort.

Thanks for the pickup, Doc, but you'll want to be looking after your own legs right now, looked like they started bleeding again. "...I guess the doc already showed enough heroism." Milno says, convinced Maurice already showed enough action movie heroism to woo Simus and it is about time to prevent him from busting his legs.

Move down and take Simus from Maurice, carry her to the rest of the group.

Gorat snaps out of his strange reverie. Apparently the amp had a long term effect or something?

"We still need to explore where the sand went, and figure out what this place does, if possible. Plus, I need time to read this, it might give us some important clues."

Begin reading journal.
