"Hmm... You'd have more idea than I, but you'd think there'd be some records in here somewhere."
Charro began to search the place for any recordings of operations performed and such, with admittedly little regard for the equipment he shoves aside. Also of interest are the anaesthetics, which he shall pocket when he thinks Mesk isn't looking. At one point he has a brainwave, spotting the datachip slot on his wristpad, but thinks better of checking it out right now.
"Let's hurry up so we can get out of here... Then again, the prospect of going back to the others isn't too heartening either, but strength in numbers, I suppose."
>Search the place hurriedly for any records of what went on here, then surreptitiously grab some of the more 'interesting' medicines.

((Do our suits have any form of pocket on the outside, at all?))
You search around for records of any kind and then grab up a few bottles of interesting looking pills. Oooh this one is shaped like a smiley face. Good sign.

"I already got medical records, but I'll keep looking."
Give the room one more look for medical records.  If nothing is found, return to the central area.
You give the room one more quick look, searching any crannies you might have missed, but don't find anything. You shrug and head back out to the main room.

"Huh... Matter Converter? Why would they need one of those?"

Shrug and head back out to join up with Feyri. Have a look at the data pads as well when she's done with them.
You stare at the matter converter for a few seconds, studying it with a studious air. Then you giggle a bit for no reason and wander back into the main room. You flop your chin down on Feyri's shoulder and mutter "Whatcha got there?"

Share knowledge gained with the rest.

Then read the first, and third. Even if everything doesn't look currently relevant.

Feyri adjusted her gaze to see Bishop's head. He was still under the effects of drugs, but in a purely medical way.

"Datapads," she said, handing the second one over to him.

"Alright, now we may have a case of airborne transmission. Glad we're behind these suits.

But...that also leaves the last man who went for the distress signal...Hm.

Strange thing is, I've seen nothing here yet about psychological doctors and the like. Other than...sensual tension between the men."

Bishop reads through the pad curiously and hands it back after he's done.

"That's strange stuff maaaan... I mean, these dudes didn't seem all that affected by the madness stuff like the others, but that dude up top commited suicide or something... So what made him loose it exactly?"

After he's done talking, he heads off to find out what Charro is doing.

"...but that dude up top commited suicide or something... So what made him loose it exactly?"

Feyri checked the datapad again before checking the others, pondering on Bishop's words, slurred though they were, he was a fast reader.

"Hm, it could be of morale breakdown. Or of supposed failure to duty. Probable fear of turning into own experiment? Maybe.

Guessing Project lead's office, we've passed it. Nothing much, except porn. Too much of that.

It must be the containment room."

She looked up after musing to herself, unaware that most of it was in a low, scheming monotonic voice.

"Are we moving down yet? I'd like to see what experiments they were making from the observation deck.

The one on the fifth floor? Yep."

The other relevant datapad contains information about the experiments taking place in the base. It's mostly just more of the same obtuse stuff, physics equations and technobabble. It does refer to "the puddle" as being an area where conventional physics and even the concepts of how the universe works break down. It also takes great pains to make it clear that "the puddle" is not a "Portal or doorway" but "a self contained space of disproportionate external and internal space."

The other datapad doesn't contain anything except a few basic programs and what looks like a daily schedule.

Bishop reads through the pad curiously and hands it back after he's done.

You wander through the medical wing into the surgery room and find Charro digging through bottles of pills like a child through a toy box.

"Huh, nothing useful here except for 4-D speculative babble. 'the puddle is not a "Portal or doorway" but "a self contained space of disproportionate external and internal space.'

And you can contain a space within a space. Vacuums..."
Feyri said.

She raised the datapads and gestured to the elevator. "So who's up to see that puddle? We are here for information and- oh right.

Hey Steve, we found something! Do you have a firewall up? Trying to transmit this to you."

Upload information to Steve, after getting confirmation. Vote on going deeper and stick to Jim's back. Not that literally, but just enough to cover him.

"Don't transmit until he says he does. Remember what happened last time." After warning Feyri, Jim headed back to the elevator shaft to go down a floor and take a look around.

"Hey man, quit messing around and lets get going... We still have plenty of places left to check maaaan..."

Bishop waved a hand at Charro and left to head back to Feyri, arriving in time to see her wave at the elevator.

"I'm down with that girrrrrl. I'll go start that baby up. Which floor we going to?"

Spoiler: Maps (click to show/hide)

"Did we try the fourth level yet? The fifth one sounds well, being an observation outlook, but if the experiment is still down there for a decade, I guess it can wait for a bit.

And, check for the audio systems, just to be sure. I don't want that white noise that affected Jim to be broadcasted if that rogue AI is still present.

Or...we can go straight to the Main Computer on the lowest level, but that might mean heading through a trans-dimensional whatever.

So, yeah. I really want to go to the Main Computer first. All the data from these scientists revolve around Freud. Personally, I'd not be surprised if that Main Computer has all the important information.

Strange, though, that they never provided a path that headed straight to it. I mean, we need to pass through the testing chamber to get there."

Bishop nodded in a wise and ponderous manner.

"You'd be surprised what some idiots come up with when it comes to designing bases... The things I've seen man... Still, I guess we should check the labs out... Might find more stuff there...

Wobble off to the generator room and power up the elevator and level 4 after powering down this level. Then head back to the others.

You ask for permission to upload and wait a few minutes for the reply.

>What part of "Don't send me shit" don't you get? Keep it with you, give me the physical data storage mediums later on the ship. Next person that tries to send me data is getting shocked till they lose control of their bowels.

"Don't transmit until he says he does. Remember what happened last time." After warning Feyri, Jim headed back to the elevator shaft to go down a floor and take a look around.
You head to the elevator shaft and look down. The elevator is wedged in the shaft maybe 5 feet below this level, blocking any further process down the ladder.

Bishop nodded in a wise and ponderous manner.

Wobble off to the generator room and power up the elevator and level 4 after powering down this level. Then head back to the others.
You stagger to the generator room, feeling a bit more clear headed but still relatively stoned, and attempt to power up the next floor and the elevator systems.
[Aux:1] You tap away at the keyboard in a seemingly random fashion, enthralled by the sound of your own fingers tapping on the controls. You hit enter by sheer accident and the screen blinks the message "Full system startup". The generator hums noisily and the computer shows the rest of the floors lighting up as power flows back to them. The intercom buzzes for a moment and then an androgynous synthetic voice rings out.

"System reset complete. Assessing situation. Situation unchanged. P-box protocol active."

And then the atmosphere hisses out and the base is in vacuum again.

Bishops voice comes over the radio.

"Woops! My bad. I-"

And then he goes quiet, as a realization comes to him through the haze in his mind.

"Hey... Sound needs air to go through, right? If we keep this place in vacuum, we won't hear any of that white noise shit riiight?"

Feyri noticed the complete shift in the environment before switching comm channels to Bishop, speaking in a calm voice.

"What the hell just happened? I-...oh, power outage. Well, you are right with the vacuum and noise. Just hope that whatever AI may be there, it hasn't infected our comm link.

And Jim."

She made due to store all three datapads in her quantum storage, which is her preferred name for her backpack.

"Steve, do you have any notes on the P-box protocol we've just heard?"

She wondered if the gravity failed too, and wondered if they were to float the way down. If the gravity of the planet worked, that is.

Then goes and examines the elevator along with Jim, hoping to find another way through after seeing the predicament.

"Good thinking, Bishop." Jim headed east toward the Materials Processing area to see what, if anything, could be of use there.

"Nothin' we can do about that. Anyway the lift should be working so, let's rooooll."

Head to the elevator and meet up with the others.
