Well generally by the time I'm fighting HFS it will become a very long affair, made worse by FPS killing caveins, water flows, spike traps, prisoners quantum caged being released and finally many squads of very angry very well skilled dorfs with crowsbows, spears, swords and hammers.

Therefore it requires the most well set battle music ever

 If nothing else I end up listening to Toady rocking the guitar. More often I find I just don't bother to turn off soundsense music or Soma FM. (Soma is just too darned great.)

 Next time I muck up and doom the fortress though, I'll refer to some of the awesome music everyone else has brought up. Which reminds me, I just got Baldur's Gate II on GOG, so I get a free soundtrack to listen to outside of the game. Now to go kill everyone! Boo and I shall bob our heads to the dramatic beats of boss music, and revel in the righteous butt kicking of our demonic foes!

Pink Floyd, Sorrow. That thing has a guitar bit at the end like 3 minutes long.

If I could animate, I'd make an animation showing the life of a dwarf fort, to that song. The way it builds up to total mayhem at the end which in my mind is like a siege and a HFS attack and maybe forgotten beast attack at the same time.

I was thinking more along the lines of this legendary champion, all clad in dented and dinged up steel plate, his blood-drenched axe slung over his back, a notch in the handle for every enemy that saw the swing of that blade as the last sight they ever saw, a battered shield strapped over his arm... and a fluffy, pink stuffed hippo hidden discretely in his breastplate.
