If I recall correctly, arena testing showed that steel picks are the best. It's not as sharp or hard as adamantine, but it's still #2 in both categories, plenty enough to tear through anything. Plus steel is much, MUCH heavier than adamantine, which works especially great with any weapon, but especially with the high velocity multiplier on a pick.

well, considering the force you'd need to put a woodchipper through somebody's body.....no.

No, the way you worded it made it seem like the corpse was mining through the woodchipper.

They wouldn't mine faster, but would make awesome weapons for your squad of pick-armed soldiers.

I disagree. As far as adamantine is awesome and all, it is the worst possible material for maces and any other blunt weapons, this includes picks, because they dont have a slashing/stabbing attack.

native platinum picks ftw
I am pretty sure they do have an edge attack, otherwise how would my miner be able to tear off goblins hands?

Straight from the raws:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So, yes. Picks do have an edge attack. That's the only attack it has, actually.

Legendaries tend to go through stone like a corpse through a wood chipper.

Ahah! That's what they're doing when on break. Unjammng the wood chipper! Bones can make horrible noises when stuck in wood chippers.

I like it how there are two conversations going on at once.

And none of them are on topic.  :D

Adamantine is better as it is the best material for edged weapons. However it's almost impossible to notice as picks are already fearsome weapons.

So... would it be faster if the wood-chipper had an andamantine blade?

The chopping itself, No.

But he will move to his trees faster, but !!SCIENCE!! needs to be done to see whether you're saving any significant amount.

What is this "on topic" you speak of? I know not of such a concept.

When i come across a pick in adventure mode, i pick it up instantly, these things are just so badass.
Even whit zero skill you easily chop hands off.

It is clear we are in need of rocket powered corpses, and jet engine wood chippers to throw at each other.

It is clear we are in need of rocket powered corpses, and jet engine wood chippers to throw at each other.

For ‼SCIENCE‼!

From link:

When a scientist says he does something For Science!,what this usually means is he simply doesn't care about the answers to several important questions regarding his research, like:

1. Does it have any potential applications —that are not immediately lethal, full of side effects, potentially genocidal, ecocidal,or omnicidal?

2. Is there any way of gaining any replicable data or results?

3. Where will I get test subjects?

4. Can we make sure willing subjects are informed of all the risks involved in testing my dangerous untested invention?

5. Are these experiments ethical? Is Phlebotinum Rebellion likely?

6. Will it rise up against humanity and/or eat me?

7. How will I fund my research, and how can I make money off of it? (What? These are legitimate questions!)

Answers:

1: jet engine woodchipper, no problems there!

2: of course! Fire more corpses at it!

3: of course! Graveyards everywhere!

4: they won't care! They'll be dying to get in on this!

5: dwarven ethics! Of course!

6: rocket powered corpses? What could go wrong with that?

7: How could you NOT make money off rocket powered corpses?

Conclusion:

!!SCIENCE!! approved!
